Emma's P.O.V

I looked up at the sky from my department office window.

Tiny raindrops poured down from the vast grey sky which was stretching for miles from here. The day looked gloomy without Meraki's usual sun. The roads below were a shiny black, wet from all the tears that the sky was pouring.

It was as if the nature itself was moaning for the sudden disappearance of the two kids in the city.

Bella.

The teen-ager's face from the footage popped into my mind. I looked down and stared at the photo clipped to the file on my desk.

A pair of beautiful innocent chocolate brown orbs stared back at me. The file says that the boy was five years old and that he was an orphan.

I kept staring at the file.

Something told me that the boy's case wasn't a co-incidence to be the same time of abduction as Bella's.

I sighed in frustration.

I hope Diana would hurry with the details of the boy.

I dismissed the emotions and looked at my watch. It read 2 pm. I didn't have my lunch yet. From the moment I heard about Bella, the appetite to eat, drink and sleep vanished into thin air.

I stood up from my seat.

Seems like it's time to fill myself with some energy.

I stared in to space, taking small sips from my coffee, not at all savouring it's taste. The coffee felt bitter and empty like my heart.

I was brought out of my reverie when my phone started blaring.

It's not until you fall-

"Hello?", I answered, not bothering to check the caller ID.

"Emma! You need to come here ASAP", I heard Director Williams' panicked voice say.

I immediately got on to my feet making the chair slide back on the tiled floor with a screeching sound. I ran out of the building, mentally jotting down the address that Williams was uttering.

"What's wrong", I asked, panting a bit as I unlocked my car.

Director Williams has never lost his cool. This is a first time and that means something was terribly wrong.

He didn't reply, instead he hung up.

"What the fuck?", I glared at the phone as if it was its fault.

Why isn't he saying anything?

Damn it!

I punched the steering wheel in frustration and raced the car out of the parking lot. Manhattan Street wasn't too far from here. Infact, it was a five minute drive.

I parked the car infront of the construction site and ran into the halfway made building to watch a group of police officers already in action. I showed my badge to the Officer at the entrance and hurried to find Director Williams. I ducked under a yellow crime scene tape when I heard Martin's voice.

The voice was coming from the far end of the site. I speed walked, no correction; I ran towards it. Martin's back was towards me. He was talking to one of the police officers.

"Martin?", I called out making him turn around as soon as he heard my voice.

My heart got caught up in my throat as I saw Martin's face.
