You puffed a breath leaning into L more, "It's hard to wrap my head around."
"Mmmhmm." L hummed drawing a few stray hairs on your head back
You were about to say more when Storage (y/n) padded through the door with a worried look on her face. She was soon followed by four Ricks, three of which were wearing the typical uniform you have seen around while the other had more of a scientist items on. Including a mouth cover with gas converters and an eye piece that the Rick had on his left eye. It was reading information to him as he gazed around the room. You wiggled deeper into the large poofy sweater you were wearing. You prayed to god that any of the Rick's some how out of the sea of your faces wouldn't recognize you and try to fuck you again. Hey, maybe they would be kind and just kill you. The other three Ricks spread out around the other (y/n)s talking in a low manner, yet calmly as through they were children that the grown ups didn't want scared of nothing. The more scientific looking Rick cast his gaze around the room then locked on you both you and L.
This Rick marched over his head held high and his azure eyes cold. He stopped less then a foot from you and glared down at you. You brought your knees closer to yourself and hands up closer to your face.
"Shy one ain't cha?" The Rick growled leaning down and inspecting you, "Ain't seen ya around much, your Rick keep ya in a lot?"
You paused for a moment then hesitantly nodded, the more you could seem like you had a rick the high chance of you not getting found. So trying to act like a lost puppy you burrowed deeper into the sweater and curled up in a tighter knot. The Rick chuckled lowly, L stroked your hair.
"Stop darling, its her first time in a daycare, and she is still trying to get used to all of the Ricks." L said in a tone you only used when trying to persuade someone, it was a huskier tone of your voice that can sound very alluring if used correctly, "So how is your day so far, darling?"
The Rick turned his gaze from you up to L, who you have figured out "belongs" to this Rick. You have elected to call him Lab Rick. He smiled softly not pulling many muscles in his face.
"The usual, build a robot here, discover the cure to a disease here." He chuckled softly, "Figured out a new communication system based on the little scraps you were playing around with and happened to piece together to make something."
You felt L stiffen against you but her tone remained even and calm, "Well, that is another victory for you my dear."
Lab Rick Straightened himself and clapped his hands with a laugh, "Anyways sweet cheeks I gotta go, cause ya know 'official Rick business' I'll come to pick you up later."
With that he gathered the other Ricks which had been flirting with some (y/n)s and they left. You realsed a breath and slowly unfurled yourself. The air was stale with anger from L.
"S-so congrats on making the communication thing." You finally said grubbing the fabric of the bean back in your hands
"Yea- Wait how did you know that I made it myself?" L asked tipping your hand back into her lap and stroking your hair line
"Well, your Rick seemed to be putting you down more with it than thanking you for at least helping with the design of it. Like he wanted at least me to know that you made it by random chance." You said closing your eyes as her fingers traced your cow-lick
She smiled softly, "Well thank you for at least seeing that I can do the science to." She giggled in a goofy voice
You laughed and opened your eyes. You gazed into the familiar, yet unfamiliar (e/c) eyes of L. The clouded grey sheen of her left eye still confused you and around the bandages on her face you could see faint purple scars branching out. The ends like hands stretching and reaching for no one. You furrowed your brows slightly, you wanted to know more about her scars, why she hid them, why they were even there, but remained silent.
"I know that look." L teased softly, "What is it that your inspecting?"
"Your blind eye." You muttered quietly
Her eyebrows raised, "How do you know it's blind?"
"Well the pupil has too thick of a grey sheen over it. While the surface of your eye looks almost visibly scared. So that eye looks too damaged to work properly. With some support maybe one day it will see again, but I still haven't figured that one out." You spoke softly moving your hands here and there, "What I'm stuck on is what caused your eye to be like that. The scarring-"
L cut you off, "Electricity." She murmmered, "Straight 200,000 volts straight to my eye, it scarred up my face pretty good too. If you were wondering." She smiled softly running her fingers over the bandages on her cheek, her eyes glazed over at some deep memory, "I used to think Ricks were 'Ight. Some of them are still not that terrible, but something had to help make my opinions this way right?" She hummed sadly
"Yeah, I guess." You technically just met this girl, even through she is you, you know near nothing about her, "You don't have to go into story if you don't want too."
She puffed a sigh, "I need to tell someone that will believe me, through. Sometimes even the other (y/n)s don't believe my true stories, saying, 'That can't be true... m-my Ricky wouldn't do such a thing!' Well I'm not talking about your rick. And none of them want to discuss mechine designs or things you can do with a still beating heart and the veins!"
"Well- wait did you say 'The things you can do with a still beating heart and the veins'?" You asked cocking a brow in interest
"See! Right there, we're working on similar wave lengths, we find interest in things other people don't thing about!" She leaned backwards and brought the heel of her palms to her eyes, "Its stressful, when everyone is so afraid to even try to be different and blend into something different." She puffed a breath, "They always stick to their Ricks. Always stick to what their universe is, never trying something else or experiment with polyurethane and plants and frogs!"
You chuckled quietly, "Wouldn't the polyurethane kill the plants and frogs?... well, I guess it depends on what kind of plant and the type of frog." You said listing off the variables on your fingers
"See! You want to see what happens!" L sighed and brought her face back to you, "I can see if I can stay over night for the next few nights here at the daycare with you. If I can't I'll just hack a problem for my Rick that will have him working for a few days." She almost muttered the last part to herself, "But anyways I'm staying here with you, until we get your Rick thing figured out."
