Chapter 12

I knocked on the door softly 

"Come in!" Stefan said.

I opened the door and fake smiled at him "Hows Mr Perfect hair doing?" 

"Maya, whats wrong?  I can tell you're fake smiling." He was next to me within seconds, both his hands on the side of my face making me look him in the eye.

"Trouble in paradise." I smirked softly.  

"Sounds like fun, meet me in my office." he laughed softly.  He guided me towards his desk and pulled a trunk up with no trouble next to the chair.  He elegantly sat down on the trunk and gestured for me to sit in the chair.  I sat down, trying to look elegant but I ended up falling.  

"Well that's what I get for trying to be elegant." I muttered as I climbed back up onto the chair.  

"Oh well.  Now tell me whats going on." Stefan demanded.   

"I saw Klaus and Caroline in the woods.  He told he he couldn't stop thinking about her." I muttered, looking down.  

"Yeah... him and Caroline have had a thing going on for a while."  He continued to look at me.

"What do you mean for a while?" I growled

"He's fancied her for a while, Maya." 

"WHAT?!" I growled louder.  "You've got to be kidding me." 

"I'm not... I probably should have told you before you married him.  I honestly thought he could change if he married you."

I shook my head in disbelief.  "This is getting ridiculous with him..." 

"Maya." Stefan said, making me look at him quickly.  

"Yeah?"

"I have something I need to tell you." he said softly.

"What is it, Mr Nice Hair?" I asked smirking slightly.

"I'm falling in love with you." he muttered "I know Damon just told you that he loves you and you said you'd wait for him but Maya, you've already seen how that went before.  Even you said it was a one night stand.  Maya I am falling for you more and more with each day to come.  I can't help but smile when you're around, and your smile can brighten up anyone's day.  You bravery is amazing and you never fail to amaze me with something new to say." He said, struggling with every word as though it seemed.

"What the hell is up with everyone now telling me they love me?" I growled softly

"Because now you're free to us." he smiled.

"Not quite yet, just remember that, Stef." I frowned

"Maya." 

I put my finger to his mouth and pointed downstairs.  He nodded slowly then grabbed a piece of paper and began writing in fancy script.

I love you

I know you do, but I just don't know what to think of all this.

He sat there with the pen in his hand for a moment then began writing once again.  

You have to choose at some point.  I just hope it will be me.

What about Elena?

She left because of us being what we are.  She wasn't the one.

Who says I'm the one though?

I do.

This is all insane.

Do you love me back...?

I paused staring at what he wrote then back at him.  Do I love him?

Yes

He looked up at me and stared at me for a long moment.  My phone buzzed in my pocket breaking the moment. 

Klaus: Hey Love.  I'm back in Mystic Falls - where are you?

Klaus: Love?

Klaus: Maya?

Klaus: I know you're reading these.  Please answer me.

Maya: Don't talk to me ever again.  I am filing for a divorce and that is final. 

Klaus: Why?!

Maya: Since you seem to "never stop thinking about" Caroline, why don't you go marry her.

Klaus: I don't know what you're talking about.

Maya: I was right there, Klaus.  Stop lying to me.  I'm talking to my lawyer tomorrow and thats final.  Goodbye and enjoy your life with Caroline.

I looked up at Stefan and he looked down at the phone

"Damn.  Like I said - you never fail to amaze me." He muttered.

I smiled at him and kissed his cheek softly.  "I'll see you around," Then I pat his head "Mr Nice Hair." I chuckled then walked out of his room, I sensed his eyes following me until I left the room.
