Chapter 33
Nolan
Jerome opened the front door to my house and walked in with me following. "Guess what?" he said. "I have delivered your son back in one piece. You can now thank me. Preferably with Nolan's hand in marriage."
"I'm sixteen," I pointed out.
"And I'm nineteen. What's your point?"
I sighed as Mom got up from the couch and walked over, pulling me into a hug. "Oh, I missed you so much," she said.
"Mom, I wasn't even gone for too long," I said. "And I wasn't too fair. And you're suffocating me."
Mom stopped hugging me. "None of my children likes my hugs anymore."
"I hug!" Rose said before going over to Mom, then wrapped her arms around Mom's leg. "Hug!"
Mom smiled and picked up Rose. "At least someone likes my hugs," she said before looking at me. "So, how was the convention?"
"Drama filled," I said. "There's this one vlogger who doesn't seem to like Jerome."
"He's just jealous that we're the cutest couple on VidGalore," Jerome said. "Oh, and how there was a couple's contest there, and Nolan and I won first place."
"Nice," Dad said.
"Since we did so well, can I marry Nolan?"
"Sure."
"Dad!"
"What?" Dad asked. "You can get married at sixteen with parental permission."
"Well, yeah, but I'm not getting married at sixteen," I said. "The youngest I'm getting married is when I'm eighteen and out of high school."
"Aww, but I thought you loved me," Jerome said.
"I do, but we're not getting married when I'm only sixteen," I said. "You have to wait."
Jerome sighed. "It will be a rough time waiting. Well, I am going to head back home now."
"Can I come?"
"Didn't you just come home?" Dad asked. "You spent the whole weekend with Jerome at the convention. Don't you want to spend time with your family?"
"Not really," I said honestly. "Well, I do because you're my family, but....I don't know, I just....Well, you know."
"Alright," Dad said. "Be back before nine, okay?"
I nodded. "Okay. Thanks." I told Jerome I was just going to put my luggage in my room, so I quickly did that before going back down the stairs and following Jerome out of the house and to his car.
As soon as we walked into the apartment, Ryder, who was sitting at the dining room table, looked at us and raised an eyebrow. "So you spend two and a half days together, yet you come here?" he asked me.
"Yeah," I said. Since the dream I had where Jerome left me, I would rather be by his side. I didn't want to feel or seem clingy, but....I don't know, I just wanted to know or feel for sure that he would be here for me and never leave me.
I didn't think Jerome even thought of me as clingy, luckily, considering he was living with a married couple and felt like a third-wheel most of them time.
Snowball saw me and ran over, barking happily. I smiled and knelt down to pick him up and he began licking my face. "I missed you too," I said.
"Thanks again for watching him," Jerome said to Ryder.
"Yeah, you didn't really give me a choice," Ryder said. "But I didn't mind. He's a quiet dog and rarely gets into anything. He either played with one of his toys or just sat in a corner. And he sometimes would watch TV with me and growled at some of the characters, mainly the ones I hated, so I respect him."
"That's because he has two awesome parents," Jerome said.
"We're not really his parents," I said.
"Shut up. We are his parents."
"Okay, okay. We're his parents."
"Exactly," Jerome said. "I'm going to edit the vlogs I recorded during the convention so I could get them up today."
He first put his suitcase in his bedroom and while he was doing that, I sat on the couch. Jerome came back with his laptop and his camera and began doing all the editing for his vlogs while I watched. Snowball ended up jumping off my lap, then went to go play with one of his toys.
I rested my head on Jerome's shoulder as he continued editing his video. "Do you feel like I'm clingy?" I asked.
"Nope."
"Oh, okay. Because sometimes, it feels like I am."
"Trust me, I don't think that at all," he said. "You're going through a lot and I know you need me. And I need you too, believe it or not. I don't have anything drastic going on like you do, but me being around you always puts me in a better mood. So don't worry about feeling like you're clingy, because you're not."
"Okay, I'm glad to here that. I would hate for you to be irritated for me always wanting to be around you."
"I would never be irritated by you," Jerome said. "Nolan, you're the only one to understand what I'm going through with my parents. I mean, you don't know exactly how it feels to be disowned by your parents, but you know how it feels like to have people....not particularly like you just because of who you are. And you're too amazing to not be around, babe."
"Don't call me that."
"Honey?"
"No."
"Baby?"
"Aww, baby," Ryder said. "I want a baby now. Now I'm sad. Mae doesn't want to have a baby with me."
"I can see why," Jerome said. "She will not be able to handle being pregnant while going to school, and raising a baby while being in school."
Ryder sighed. "I know. I just really want a baby."
"That's why I got a dog," Jerome said.
"I thought you got a dog because you woke up wanting a dog."
"I did, but I'm saying I got a dog because I wanted a baby to make you feel better."
"Yeah, that doesn't work," Ryder said. "I just have to suffer and wait until we're down university before I can be a dad."
______________
Aww poor Ryder. cx
So I'm sad. One of my OTPs broke up in a TV show I watch and I'm sad now. Like, I knew it was coming because the next episode was said something about their break up (and the episode is titled The Real Heartbreak....) but actually watching it HURT ME SO MUCH. WHY DID THEY DO THIS TO ME?
Great and now I'm hungry but it's past midnight so I can't eat....
