I sat and waited for Gray to come back. He had been missing for about three hours and no one had any clue where he was.
I sat surrounded by the broken pieces of the guild. I didn't really care about the fact that our home was destroyed right now though. A hall can be rebuilt but a person cannot live a second life. I sat back onto my hands as I leaned back against a board that was sticking up. I looked up at the sky hoping and wishing that he is alright. I need him to be okay but I don't even know where to begin looking for him. I had gone back to the hill where he and the girl fought. She was knocked out on the ground but he was no where to be found. I felt someone sitting down beside me. I opened my eyes to look over. Lucy was sitting next to me smiling a little.
"I know this hurts, but you don't have to worry. Gray is strong and he will come back." Instead of answering I looked down to my feet. There is always the possibility of him needing help but no one knows where he is at.
"Natsu." I looked to my other side and saw Loke walking over. He sat on the other side of me and put his hand on my knee. "Don't worry. He is okay. You just need to give him time to find you." I sighed and slid down to the ground as I pulled my knees up to me. I put my head down on top of them and sighed.
"We should get going. We need to see if everyone else is alright." I nodded to the two and closed my eyes. I don't really care what they need to do. I just want Gray to walk over to me and tell me that everything is alright. Once they had walked away a few steps I opened my eyes to see their hands linked together. I smiled, happy that Lucy had found someone. I will have to knock his head in to make sure he knows not to hurt her.
I closed my eyes again and leaned my head down to the side. Eventually I fell asleep because the next time I opened them I was back at my house in the woods. I sat up from my bed and lazily gazed around at my surroundings. Had all of that been a dream?
I sniffed the air as I planted my feet on the ground. I began walking through the house until I got to the living room. Gray was strethced out on the couch with one hand on his stomach and the other down by his side. His head was tilted to the side with his eyes shut. I knew it hadn't been a dream since the marks still covered the exposed skin.
I walked over to the couch and sat down next to him. I gently rubbed his cheek with my thumb as he took light breaths. He was still alive and that is what matters to me. His body looked to have some type of damage everywhere you looked. I sighed and moved up to lay down between him and the back of the couch. I wrapped my arms around his waist and held him close to me. He had rolled over and shoved his face down into my chest, causing a blush to run up my cheeks.
I smiled and closed my eyes to allow myself to fall back asleep. When I awoke again Gray was still cuddled into me. His right arm had flopped up around my waist as the other one was playing with my vest. I brought my arm around between us and grabbed his hand. I squeezed it in mine which made him smile as he looked up to me.
"You're okay." I whispered quietly. He pulled away to sit up. I sat up as well, afraid that he was leaving.
"Of course. I told you I would be." I reached over to him. My arms wrapped around his neck as his snaked around my waist. I pulled him down to me so that I could embrace him.
"Where were you? We couldn't find you. I thought something bad had happened." He held me back just as tightly.
"I had just gotten done fighting that girl, Aluna. I had beat her but I was so out of strength that as I was walking around to find someone to help me I had passed out. I woke up for a second to see that Elfman had found me. He was carrying me and then I was out again. Then I woke up a little bit before you got up." I sighed and pulled back a little bit.
"Next time I am staying and helping. I'm not going to leave you to die again. I shouldn't have done it today but I wanted to show that I trusted you." He smiled lovingly towards me.
"Natsu, you really are something special." I blushed and tried to look away from him.
"No. I'm just me. But you, you are something else." I leaned over to run my fingers over his marks. "How long?" He looked down to my hand and reached up to grab it. He laced his hand with mine and moved it away from the marks.
"I found out when I was nine. I didn't think anyone would accept me at Fairy Tail if they knew that I was so young yet had so much power. So I hid it away and just passed myself off as an Ice Make Mage. Over time I did honestly forget about it. At times in battle I would accidentally use too much power and feel it trying to surface. That is honestly the only time I ever thought about it and even then it would just be for a moment." I bit my lip and moved over so that I was sitting on his lap. I straddled him as I moved my hand that held onto his. I put it between us and kissed the back of his hand.
"I would always accept you no matter what. Everyone else would as well because Fairy Tail is the strongest guild and family anyone has ever saw. I'm sorry you have had to hide this part of you away for so long." We sat and looked into each others eyes for a long time.
"It isn't going away this time." I tilted my head to the side.
"What?"
"The Demon Slayer marks. I can't get them to go away." His voice cracked as he told me that. He has been trying to hide this for so long but now someone has forced him to have to deal with it. I brought my free hand up to lay it against his cheek.
"It is okay, Gray." He shook his head and turned his face into my hand.
"Everyone will treat me differently now." I rubbed his cheek while forcing him to look back to me.
"If anyone does treat you differently let me know and I will smash their face in." He chuckled at my words and rubbed my back.
"Thank you so much. For everything." I shook my head and chuckled while leaning down into him.
"I didn't do anything." He leaned up to me and stopped right before we touched.
"You did everything without even realizing it. I was so ready to just give up and end everything. I was ready to drop dead but you showed me what it is like to want to live for someone. My mind was so unstable yet somehow you found a way to make it right again." I blinked a couple times. Is he sure that I was the one who did all that?
"Gray, I-" he cut me off by pulling me down into him. He kissed me roughly as I did the same back. No matter what I could never get enough of him or his touch. We battled it out for a little bit until he took over and pushed me down into the couch.
We stayed together as our hands began to roam over each other. I still wasn't sure how I had saved him but either way, I'm glad he is alive. He pulled away leaving a line of saliva between us. His hand went down to my belt. His eyes stayed locked with mine as he slowly undid it. I nodded quickly making him smile and pull it off quicker.
That night, we became one. We became one without having to use a link. I swore to stay alive to protect him and he swore to stay alive to protect me.
