<Nagisa>
Before we headed to the meeting, Irina led me through the departments and I noticed how everyone was wearing different uniforms."This is Project Itona." She presented me to a guy who looked around my age. Itona looked well aware of his surroundings as he was in his glass cage. His eyes fixated on us as we walked by. I could even see him talking to the advisors.
We passed through another gate.
"This is Project Ritsu."
This time a female subject whose senses were on par with Project Itona. It was obvious that their built was more advanced than Karma. I kind of felt like there was some type of competition here.
And through another gate, this time heavily armed with guards and surveillance."Project Death." Irina scanned her ID and they let her pass through deeper. Even I had to scan my ID. However, I was only allowed access because Irina had the black card, the highest ranking card that is government approved.
"This one is detained under strict watch. Only 8 of our certified scientists are allowed to pass in and out. Well, you're an exception for now. Other than that, you would have to make it up the ranks to stand in here." She explained.
"A dangerous one I presume?" I asked about Death. Unlike the other subjects, Project Death was caged in a blackened opaque glass, armored down with thick metal and bullet proof covering.
"All of them are dangerous as weapons of mass destruction." She pursed her lips and waved at the men who walked by.
A bitch?"You could say that if things got out of hand, everyone would be killed in here. Ah, but did you know that if that happens to be the case, there's are sensors throughout this facility. If Project Death can't be detained properly, this whole place goes boom in seconds."
My heart sank and I hurried out of the department with Irina not too far behind me.
"That's the thrill of working here." She teased. "Not knowing when something breaks out and kills us all. Living with knowing that we may die any day."
"Please, let me digest these words." I shook in discomfort. "What's to explore when your dismantled in million of pieces?" I questioned, "it must of been that last section of print that I somehow skipped." I sighed.
"Huh? What?" She poked around my shoulder.
"It's nothing. Let's go to the meeting."
"Hehe, you'll fit in just right." Irina patted my back. "Ah, just to let you know. These meetings are intense for newbies like you. A word of advice from your senior-"
"A bitchy senior." I added.
"Anyways." She coughed, "these guys are merciless when it comes to banging down walls of your self esteem. Don't let them get to you." She warned.
"I'll take that into consideration." I nodded my head.
We opened the doors and Irina walked in first, greeted by men in black suits and some in white lab coats.
"Is this Shiota Nagisa?" A man spiky short black hair asked, as he sat along side Koro-Sensei.
"That is her." He replied.
Irina pulled out a chair and we both sat down. Multiple eyes were on me, feasting on vulnerable one.
"I do believe that you have read the print." He glared at Koro-Sensei and then his eyes laid on me, "correct?"
"Y-yes." I spoke.
"Then you must know that for security measures, the job as an advisor is forbidden to leak out to the common man." He said.
"Right."
"And federal punishments are taken into account?" He pushed further.
"Yes, I'm well aware of my position." I agreed.
"My name is Karasuma Tadaomi. I'm the one who does the sweeps and inspections regularly here."
He took out his hand and I shook it. Though, it felt like, just by the pressure of his hand that he wasn't here to make friends. Rather a quick shake was best.
"We've spoken with your guardians as well. Those papers they signed and you signed, apply to them as much as you do. The same federal laws will judge them." He explained.
"We'll be careful." I assured.
"That's good to hear."
•••••••
I made it back to my department and saw that there was five other scientists leaving through the doors."We've placed the alterations reports on your desk." They bowed their heads and went their way.
From words from Koro-Sensei, Project Karma had only 10 designated scientists while Project Itona and Ritsu had more that 20. I guess it varies due to how structured the project is.
Guess Karma isn't that popular amongst the others. I scanned my ID and noticed that Karma was sitting besides the glass wall.
Like he was waiting.Maybe it was the alterations that made him more aware of his surroundings. I quickly grabbed my journal and took notes.
Sitting by the glass wall as well. With everything that ran through my head, I wanted to make Karma the best Project out of all of them. With my obscure fantasies, I want to make this artificial piece of scraps the best of all. This was my project now and I knew that I had to step up my game to be able to make physical alterations and such.
Karma looked up at me and stared for awhile. I watched his motionless expressions.
"It must be cozy in there." I said, "I'd rather live alone like you. Away from the hands of my mom." I envied his caged living that separated us humans.
"I'll become much more, something greater." I praised myself with such words, "I'll make you even more developed, better than those others projects. You hear me Karma?"
Even though I'm well aware that he couldn't process my words.
"Because you and I are much more alike than we both think." I spoke, "we're both held back by others. We're too weak. We're both lonely."
Karma got off the ground and I stood up with him. Then, his body moved towards the bed and left me at the glass wall.
I knew that my promise was one sided. He didn't know what I was babbling about.Must be nice to live a life so freely, free from emotions, senses, and free from responsibilities.
