When she was just a girl
She expected the world
But it flew away from her reach
And the bullet catch in her teeth

Life goes on, it gets so heavy
The wheel breaks the butterfly
Every tear a waterfall
In the night the stormy night
She'll close her eyes
In the night the stormy night
Away she'd fly
..
And so lying underneath those stormy skies
She'd say
I know the sun must set to raise

And so lying underneath those stormy skiesShe'd say I know the sun must set to raise

________

Gellert Grindelwald was the most dangerous Dark Wizard of that time.
He was leading a revolution against the governments and wanted to end the International Statute of Secrecy that forced wizards to hide from muggles.
Years before he got imprisoned in the United States thanks to Newt Scamander, but  somehow he escaped and went back to Europe.
In recent years he was believed to be in France or in his fortress of Nurmengard.
Rumours has it that he was even involved in firing the muggle wars.
If he was back to England, it meant that the darkest times were coming.

But he wasn't considered a model by the young students attracted by the Dark Arts and led by Tom Riddle.
He got expelled from school and surrounded himself with fanatics who committed atrocious mass-slaughter. He used his skills to destroy everything.
Grindelwald looked just for anarchy and disorder, while Tom struggled for ruling the world and bringing his idea of order.

The Christmas break was imminent, but was predicted to be the coldest one ever.
The Winter's Ball was cancelled and many students stayed at school for the holidays, believing that Hogwarts was the safest place of the country.
The snow fell abundantly and also the trips to Hogsmeade got cancelled.

Susan had nowhere to go, so was forced to stay. She just lacked one month to be in the right age for fully becoming the owner of her house without needing an adult guardian.

Full of nostalgia, she remembered how shining and happy her previous Christmas was. It was shocking how many things could change in just one year.
Her first ball with Tom, their real first kiss, their first time into her room. She craved for all of those forbidden things for so long, to get the closest to him. And she felt happy and complete then.
But things fast changed and she soon got used to what she got.
In one year a student died and the school was almost closed, the Chamber of Secrets was closed, Tom killed his father, then he created a horcrux and changed and she fell into a depression that almost brought her to kill him.

Tom didn't suspect anything and with her he acted as he usually did.
They got busy with learning Apparition. The official lessons were starting after the Christmas break, so they used the holidays to practice as much as they could in the Room of Requirement.

The first anniversary of the beginning of their relationship came, but they didn't even celebrate it.
Perhaps Tom even forgot that and Susan didn't dare to remind it to him.
They just spent the night together. But it was something so recurrent that didn't appear special.
Maybe that was the result of getting whatever they wanted, she pondered. Boredom.
Tom was insatiably striving for more power, unable to consider enough all that he already achieved.
Often Susan wondered if he got tired of her too and was secretly an adulterous, meeting other girls in the nights that he didn't spend with her. Maybe more for a bet with himself or lust than the will of disrespect her.
Anyway it was an easy goal for him. No girl in the world could say no to him.
