Sean and I spent the rest of the day chilling, watching football and eating nachos.
"I haven't felt this relaxed in a long time. Shit, Alea has me stressin' everyday." He said, shaking his head.
"Cindy, too. She's so damn complicated." I said, even though I had no right to talk about her after what I did.
"But, you wanna' know somethin' man?" He started, looking at me.
I rose my eyebrow.
"I wouldn't trade her in for anything in the world, honestly." He confessed with a slight sense of emotion.
"I understand what you mean."
"I remember how hurt she was when she found out about Bridget and I." He smacked his teeth. "Can't put her through that again, know what I'm sayin'?"
I nodded partially, too distracted with thoughts about what Cindy would do if she found out about my infidelity.
"For real though, don't do anything you wouldn't want her to do to you." He sat up straighter. "Trust me, you'll regret it in the long run."
I swallowed my pride. "Sean, can I tell you something?"
He looked at me oddly and hesitated. "Uh, sure."
I sighed and tried to gather up the courage to tell of my hoeish ways.
I looked at the wall, then at the plant in the corner trying to build up some time.
"You gonna' admire your house or tell me?"
My eyes averted to him. I sighed one last time. "I slept...with my co-worker."
At first he just stared at me with an unbelievable expression. Then he began to laugh. "You're messin' with me, man. Quit playin'. Now tell me what you did for real."
I gulped. "That is what I did."
His laugh stopped abruptly and his smile faded. "No..no you're joking. You couldn't have done something stupid like that. That's not.."
His words seemed to die away as he examined my serious face.
"You are screwed." He said after a couple of seconds.
"I know." I mumbled.
"How the hell you gone' do something like that, Jason?"
"I don't know Sean. It was a weak moment."
"Now you're sounding like a female. Cindy's not gonna' want to hear those excuses."
"I know she's not." I looked up at him shaking his head.
"What do I do?"
"The hell you askin' me for? Like I'm a cheating guru. You got yourself into this, get out of it too."
"So that's how it is now? I let you into my house and now you're telling me to get myself out of it. How about you get yourself out of my damn house." I snapped.
"Don't get mad at me just because you did wrong." He argued, rising from the couch.
"And you didn't?"
"I didn't cheat on my girlfriend. Besides, Bridget and I were together before Alea and I met."
I scoffed. "Get out of my house."
"Alright then. Cool." He stormed out of the house, slamming the door so hard, the glass vase broke that was next to it.
"Shit!" I said, running over to it. Cindy loved this vase. She bought it when we first got married.
