Chapter 24
(Keeley POV)
Three days. Three incredibly stressful days I waited for word from Daniel. I stood out on the balcony of our motel, staring out over the suburban terrain. A few trees swayed in the cool summer breeze as it caressed my cheeks. Sunlight shone bright, though not sneaking past my Ray-Bans. I sighed. Where was Layton? Was she ok? Was she human? Did they hurt her? Torture her? Maybe even… my thoughts were cut off by a set of soft lips kissing my neck.
“Watcha’ lookin at beautiful?” Wes’ voice came from behind me, though I didn’t turn to see him.
“Just thinking” I replied.
“About Layton?” he questioned.
I nodded silently. I felt his hands on my shoulders and he began to rub circles, massaging the muscles underneath. I bit back a moan at how good that felt.
“God Keels, how much stress are you under?” Wes asked concern obvious in his tone.
“Well, I’ve been worrying about Lay since Daniel brought the news of her. She’s my sister, and like half of me. I’m so worried that she won't make it out alive, and or human.” I moaned at the end as Wes released a knot in my back. His hands left my shoulders and wrapped themselves around my waist. I leaned back into Wes’ body and he kissed my cheek.
“Keeley, I’m going to promise to get you and your sister safe, no matter what.”
“Wes,” I started. “Can we talk about something else?”
“Anything you want.”
“Ok, what did you want to do before you became a hunter?”
“I wanted to go to college to be a doctor actually. I wanted to marry the girl of my dreams and just be happy. I wanted to marry young, so I’d be able to travel with her” Wes sighed. “But then my life went to hell and I ended up here. What about you?”
“I had no idea what I wanted. I was thinking I could surf forever, hell, I’m still thinking I can. But, you wanted to be a doctor, I can't picture that.”
“That’s because you only know the changed me. Before, um, things happened I was a normal kid. I was smart, popular, star of the lacrosse team; I had a pretty easy life. I didn’t have anger issues. I wasn’t secretive and snarky, I was happy. Then, I guess, shit happened and I became a hunter.”
“What shit?” I asked. Wes opened his mouth to say something, and then closed it again. A look of pain crossed his face and I instantly regretted what I said. I reached up and stroked the side of his slightly stubbled face.
“It’s ok Wes, you don’t have to say anything” I said softly.
“I’m sorry Keels, its not that I don’t trust you, and it’s definitely not that I don’t care, cause I care about you a lot, its just that when we find your sister and we maybe have to be apart for a while; I don’t want you to feel tied to me.”
“You think we’re going to break up?” I asked.
“Only if you want to. I promise I will never let you go.”
My hard gaze softened at Wes’ words. I wound my fingers in the back of his hair and pulled his lips to mine in a passionate kiss. Wes responded immediately, arms wrapping tighter around my waist and lips hard against mine. We backed up until my back was against the deck railing and all of me was pressed against all of him.
“I mean it Keeley, I lo… really like you. I never want you to be alone again.” Wes whispered huskily.
“Weston” I murmured against his lips.
Then, he kissed me again. “I wanna kiss you as much as I can now, before everyone else wakes up” Wes said, smiling broadly.
“Cause they’ve told me to keep it in my pants every time they see us together.” We both laughed.
“Well, are you gunna kiss me or what?” I asked, biting my lip. A hungry look glazed over his eyes.
“Oh hell yea” he growled sexily, and before I could even gasp, his lips were on mine.
“I’m” kiss
“Going” kiss
“To kiss you” kiss
“Until” kiss
“You can't take it anymore.”
“Well, you seem to be all talk, no action mister” I teased, a little breathlessly.
Wes smirked, slipping a hand behind my neck and pulling me back to him. His hands slipped a little under my shirt, stroking my stomach. My hands make their way under his shirt and up his back, running my fingers up and down his muscles. Wes groaned and pressed himself closer to me. We shifted a little as Wes deepened the kiss, twisting his tongue with mine. I moaned a little as my fingers traced his abs. Wes must’ve heard me because he kissed me harder.
Then a loud, sarcastic, clap pierced my ears. “Well there goes my need to rent a porno for tonight” Daniel said.
“Oh Daniel, what a joy” Wes begrudgingly pulled away from me.
“Well Weston, maybe I’m not here to see you” Daniel smirked at me.
“Well what do you want from me then?” I asked as Wes buried his face in the curve of my neck, sighing.
“Well besides the obvious…” Daniel leered and I held Wes’ head down to keep him calm. I heard him growl and I held him down tighter.
“I found the daemons that have your sister.”
“What?” I asked and released Wes. Bad idea. He immediately left me took a couple long strides, and punched Daniel square in the jaw. The angel fell to the ground and I rushed over to Wes.
“Don’t you ever say anything like that to Keeley again” Wes spat. Daniel got to his feet, rubbing his jaw.
“Guess I kinda deserved that” he chuckled.
“What about Layton?” I asked.
“Ah right, the daemons that have her are currently about 50 miles north of here. I put a tracker on them; hopefully it’ll lead me to their head base. I think one of them may have tailed me but…”
“You found her? How is she? She’s still alive right? Still human?”
“Yes sweetheart, she’s alive and human” Daniel said. I put a hand on Wes’ chest to stop him from punching Daniel again, for calling me sweetheart.
“Ok, well, thanks, but you should go before Wes here punches your front teeth out” I said.
“Nah, I think I’ll stick around; I do have to converse with Milo about these daemons” Daniel flashed his model’s smile and wandered into the motel room.
“Rise and shine hunters” he song loudly, followed of a chorus of “Shut the fuck up Daniel!”
I laughed as I saw something fly at the angel’s head. “Wes, you don’t have to worry about Daniel, I like you, only you” I said, turning to Wes.
“I know,” he ran a hand through his hair. “I just, don’t wanna lose you, to anybody” Wes said, pulling me to him and placing a kiss in my hair.
“Ok, let’s go talk to Milo about finding your sister” Wes said, and ushered me inside.
“Oh before we leave, I’m taking you on a real date, tonight” he smiled.
“I like the sound of that” I beamed back.
