Chapter 28 (Keeley POV)

Warm, muscular arms wrapped around my body, waking me up. Well, that and the kiss in my hair. “Good morning beautiful” he whispered.

“I almost can't believe you're still here.” Guilt washed through me. How could I have done that to Wes? Of course there was another way; my stubborn mind just wouldn’t recognize that last night. I slowly sat up in the scratchy bed.

“Wes I’m so sorry…” I started but he sat up, the sheet falling from his body, exposing his perfect abs. oh wow, I was thinking of leaving those… err him. He pressed a finger to my lips.

“No need to apologize, had I been in the position I would’ve done the same” he said.

“No, it’s not ok; I can't imagine what that did to you. Even though I don’t know your story, I’m almost sure you lost someone and Mars said it would crush you if I die and… I’m just so sorry Wes.” A tear rolled down my cheek. He reached up and wiped it away tenderly.

“That doesn’t matter now. What matters is that you didn’t leave. And now we can find your sister, without you dying in the process” Wes said.

“That sounds good” I said, tears drying.

An hour later Wes, Milo, Mars, Stiles and I all sat in a small breakfast place, eating.

“Dude, give me some of you hash browns” Mars said to Milo.

“No way man, eat your own” he replied. I saw Mars inching his fork towards Milo’s hash browns. Milo blocked the advance with his own fork, glaring at Mars. Mars attacked again, reaching for the salted potatoes. Milo deflected his fork again, smirking. They continued the epic battle for the hash browns as the rest of us watched in amusement.

“For the browns!” Mars exclaimed. I laughed at them as Wes and Stiles smiled. When the intense battle was over and Milo had defended his hash browns he to us with a more serious look.

“Ok, since the threat on both Keeley and her sister’s lives, we need to take action against these daemons. Soon” Milo said.

“I second that” Wes nodded and put a hand on my leg.

“Same” came a new voice, Daniel’s.  Wes sighed. I elbowed him in the side.

“Ow! Sorry gorgeous” he smiled his cocky-perfect smile, causing a slight blush to rise in my cheeks.

“Hey Daniel” Stiles, Mars and Milo nodded.

“Hey, so I’ve got some news on these daemons. Turns out they’re main lair is about 250 miles from here in a small town called Aberthary. That’s where they’ve got your sister” Daniel turned towards me.

“You found Layton!” I exclaimed, leaping up to hug Daniel. “Thank you so much!”

“It’s what, four hours to Aberthary, if we drive down tonight….” Wes started.

“No no we can't attack tonight, they’ll expect that” Daniel said.

“Tomorrow then” Stiles nodded.

“No no no! Too soon! They’ve seen me before, plus, we’ll want to catch them when they’re not in the lair, they’ll be too strong otherwise.”

“Daniel, this is Keeley’s sister we’re talking about. I know you care about Keeley” Wes said.

“More than you know” I heard Daniel mutter under his breath.

What? More than you know?

“So why are you trying to cause her more pain?” Wes asked edge in his voice.
