Isak's P.O.V.

But then he saw it.
Even's lips, still as full and irresistible to Isak as always, slightly parted and the left corner of his mouth rose up minimally. Isak let out a shaky breath as he squinted his eyes at the older boy's mouth.

"Even?" Isak asked again, this time more softer, as he gently placed his right hand onto his boyfriend's cheek.

"I'm here, baby." he whispered, as he softly stroke his thumb over Even's soft skin.
"You can come back, I'm here." Isak said again, as he breathlessly watched the older boy's lips slowly curl into the most beautiful smile Isak had ever seen.

"Yes, yes! Come back, come back to me." Isak sobbed, his eyes still fixated on Even's beautiful features, as tears started to roll down his cheeks, looking like two small waterfalls alongside his cheeks. Grabbing Even's hand with his own free one, Isak pressed his lips to it, whispering "I'm here." over and over again.
Isak's heart was pounding as if he'd just run a marathon and he was breathing hardly, silent sobs shaking his body.

His eyes wandered to the older boy's face again and what Isak saw now, might as well be described as the most overjoyed, relieved and emotional moment that he had ever experienced. Even's eyes, blue like Neptune and deep like the ocean and, most importantly, wide open, stared into Isak's.
It seemed like time stood still.
It seemed like the hospital, the city, no, the whole world had suddenly stopped turning and everything was focused on Even's eyes.

Just as Isak was about to drown in them, Even let out a pained sounding groan and his hands shot up to his throat. His panic-filled eyes widened even more as he desperately tried to breathe, but it seemed like he wasn't able to. The pain in Even's eyes caused Isak to leave his paralyzing state of shock.

"Even!" he blurted out, his hands reaching out to touch Even's cheeks, trying to get his boyfriend to look at him. "Even, it's okay, you're safe." Isak said as he looked into Even's eyes intensely, trying to calm him down.
It didn't seem to work though, as Even used one hand to try and rip out the breathing tube in his nose. With one hand, Isak held Even back from doing so while his other hand hammered onto the 'emergency' button next to Even's bed.

Even's P.O.V.

"I love you"

Even heard a distant voice whisper.
A voice, so familiar, but at the same time, so far away. A voice pulling Even out of the darkness, out of the horrible dreams he had been a part of for, what it seemed like, an eternity.

"Even?"

For all the time Even had felt like he was underwater, doomed to sink to the ground, like he had a heavy rock attached to him, pulling him deeper and deeper. But now, it was like he got a hold of a rope, a rope pulling him upwards, out of the cold, out of the dark.

"Even, can you hear me?"

The voice pulled him up and Even felt like he could almost see the light above the darkness, his rescue, his safe haven.

"I'm here, baby."

Suddenly, it was like a thousand emotions, pictures and memories flooded into Even's mind, filling him from head to toe.

Even saw a blonde boy in his mind, smiling cheekily at him. He felt a pair of soft lips pressed against his own, he felt hands touch his body making him feel so, so good. The image of two hazel eyes flashed through his mind, making Even feel things he didn't even know he was capable of feeling.
He felt...Isak.

"I'm here."

It seemed like all of the images in Even's mind, the feelings, the memories, built up to one huge ball of light, pushing Even higher and higher, till he finally broke through the surface.
