Actually, she did a lot of wrong. It is revealed that she was always the brains of the royal family, and that Asgore depended on her a lot. She abandoned her Kingdom and subjects when her husband made a decision that was actually a viable choice. With the souls, he would get revenge from the humans that killed his children. His wife freaking left him, when she could have calmed him down. She left him completely alone after BOTH OF HIS KIDS FUCKING DIED. WAY TO GO ON THAT EMOTIONAL SUPPORT, TORIEL. YOU LEFT WHEN EVERYONE NEEDED YOU MOST, YOU FUCKING COWARD.
I honestly like Toriel, but this one fact just makes me despise her.

Mettaton is a self obsessed jerk. Sure, he cares for his audience, but only because they boost his ego. Hell, he locked Alphys out of the battle area so he could have his big finish.
Uses he/him pronouns, therefore is a boy. Case closed.

The only reason he killed then was because of a promise of (false) hope to his kingdom
After he cooled down, he realized that he didn't want to kill these humans, but he had to give hope to his subjects
He even went as far as hoping another human didn't fall, so he wouldn't have to keep his promise and go to the surface to kill humans. He would've rather sacrifice any hope of escape from the underground so he could keep the peace
Hell, I'm pretty sure he was actually a pacifist, because he really didn't want to kill Frisk in the end.
