First Day

Audrey's POV

I was still asleep on the couch when I heard foot steps walking around. I ignored that and continued to sleep, but then I heard loud voices. I slightly opened my eyes and saw something I didn't exactly want to see.

I saw Soda walking around the kitchen in a towel wrapped around his waist. He walked over to the couch by the window and simply sat there talking to Darry.

"Soda, get some pants on, your gonna be late for work..." Darry was telling Soda, I giggled a little. He must of seen me, since he walked passed and did his famous smirk that I always see.

"Hey AJ!" I looked up at him, he was still smiling, how does he do that.

"Hey Soda"

"Soda go wake up Pony for school, while your at it get some pants on!" Darry kept going on and on. I laughed, I sat up on the couch. Soda walked back down the hall. I walked over to Darry and sat down beside him.

"Thanks for letting me crash here last night." I told Darry.

"No problem, I get it's kind of hard moving on and starting a new life." He told me, I nodded.

"Yeah, been real hard for me lately, I've lost so much yet gained so little. I guess I just have to wait for those moments, you know?" I asked Darry.

"Yea I know what you mean, your not the only one who has it hard or who has lost something. Almost everyone here has lost something but slowly regain it." I believed what Darry said, it really meant something to me.

I got up and hugged Darry, he hugged me back and smiled.

"Thanks Darry, that really means something to me." I told him, he smiled again. I sat back down, he walked over to the door and got ready with Soda. I waved bye to them as they left the house.

"Woah what happened to you, you like-"

"Yea yea I know, I had a rough night. Anyway you ready to go?" He asked me, go? Go where?

"Where?" I asked all puzzled, he rolled gis eyes and looked at me.

"To school, it's the first day, you can't miss it."

"I guess, but I don't know anyone.."

"That's a lie, you know me, Johnny and Two." I was confused who were the other two....

"Who?" I asked, he rolled his eyes playfully and grabbed my hand.

"No time to talk, let's go!" He said, I followed him out the door to school, we ran down together to the school yard. I saw so many people, it's so different then what I had back in New York.

I looked around, I saw some foot ball players, cheerleaders and so many other people. Let's just hope they have the sport I like. They probably do since it's a big school.

"AJ, let's go we can get our lockers and head to homeroom." Ponyboy said, I nodded and followed him into the school. We walked down so many halls, we found an empty hall full of lockers. He picked one, I put my stuff in the one beside his.

I saw two people walked towards him, they all started talking, I just stood behind Ponyboy. I notice them from last night and from when I accidently went into the wrong house. Ponyboy pulled me up beside him.

"You guys remember AJ?" He asked them, they nodded.

"I'm Two-bit, welcome to Will Rogers..." He was saying

"Hi Two-bit." I looked over beside him and saw a shorter boy, the one from last night. He seems so shy.

"Hey, I'm Audrey, what's your name?" I asked him, he just looked at me funny and kept his hands in his pockets.

"That's Johnny, he's not a big talker till you get to know him!" Two-bit told me, I nodded. We all walked to our home rooms, I noticed we were all roughly in the same grade. Were all in grade ten, but Two-bit and Johnny got held back and Two-bit a few times more.

"Um... what class do we have?" I asked them, they all looked at me.

"I don't have a class, but these fools have P.E. So do you..." I laughed. I walked with them all to the gym, we walked in, I didn't bring a pair of shorts or anything for class so Ponyboy let me borrow his extra shirt and shorts.

"These are so baggy and big." I complained to Ponyboy, he laughed.

"Sure they are but you still good." Ponyboy pointed out, I laughed.

"Yeah right, but thanks anyway.." He nodded, the coach gathered us all around. He started talking, he told us what we would be starting with then said there was a few clubs some of us should join.

I found one that I really wanted to join, Track club. I love Track, for me it's like an escape. I hope I'm able to sign up, or at least be able to get a spot on the track team. Ponyboy tells me a lot that he's been on the track team for over the passed few years.

"Okay so, split up into teams of three or four, were gonna do some laps outside before we start the class." Coach said, most of the people had made teams already. Ponyboy and Johnny were together, so I joined them.

"Us three?" Ponyboy asked, we nodded. We each had to run a two laps around the track then switch off. I was so happy we started off with this.

"Can I go first?" I asked them, they nodded. I placed myself on the track and started running my laps.
