Once upon a time, the words that begin any great story. Only four words, yet what follow them can be powerful, just like this story. Well, I should begin the story part. Once upon a time there were 4 races, living peacefully in one dimension. Humans, halflings, goddesses, and demons. One day, the goddesses and the demons went to war, disturbing the peace.
The demon king had been discovered in his attempt to take over the other races, his motive was unknown at the time. The halflings and the goddesses allied against the king, and even some of his people, the demons, tried to stop him. They may have been demons, but they knew what he was doing was wrong and would disturb the peace they had enjoyed with the other races. Even the person he loved the most, his own daughter joined up to try and stop him. One day, the king vanished. He couldn't be found. The races considered it a surrender, and celebrated.
The leaders of the three races, the goddess queen, Hana; the halflings queen, Yasei; and the demon queen, Niki; were all celebrated as great leaders of their generation, with the demon queen being crowned and turning over a new leaf. The demons never had a good relationship with the other races, well, the leaders didn't. But this demon queen was merciful, after seeing the way her father treated his own people. Soon, the thoughts of war were over, and the peace they loved so much was back. Soon, each leader had an heir to lead their people after their decease. But, Niki was worried about her child. She had married a cursed man. He had a dragons curse, which meant that if he felt strong emotions, such as love, rage, or depression, he'd grow dragon like wings and a tail, and scales would form on his body.
They went away once the feeling went away, but if he got married, feeling permanent love, they'd be permanent. He didn't care, and he grew to like them. He was happy with his wife and baby daughter. So were the rest of the leaders. The races were also happy to have a new heir, but no one had given a thought to the demon king. He was far away, planning his revenge. He was building a portal to another dimension, one where magic didn't exist. One day, he finished it.
He traveled to each of the kingdoms, kidnapped the heir, and killed the leader. He even killed his own daughter, but she put up a fight, she was the one that alarmed everyone of his plan, and before he killed her, she cursed him, leaving him with a hole through his chest, exposing his heart, veins suspending it. It made him vulnerable. But after she cursed him, she was weak, and he killed her. He then took the three heirs to the unused portal and activated it. The force was much stronger than excpected, and pulled the lab in with it.
On the other side, the heirs undeveloped magic had shriveled away, leaving them as normal human beings. He didn't kill them, no one knows exactly why, but the good thing is they were alive. The portal had opened underground, the force left a small cavern in the dirt. He dug a hole out the dirt above him, left the children near a human city, hid the destroyed lab, and left through the portal. On the other side, he destroyed the portal, and went back to take over his kingdom. With the demon's new heir gone, he was immortal and could rule for eternity.
The heirs were found, each adopted by different families, but somehow found their way back to each other, they went to the same school, and became friends for life. They grew up together, each the polar opposite of the other, but always having each other's backs. They always dreamed of being different, special. Little did they know how special they really were. One day though, their lives changed forever.
