Sans flew back home, and crashed into her friends on the way back, while Vortex flew to the demon castle. She swooped into the Kings throne room. He put his silver hair away in his special box.
"Ah, Vortex, you've returned." Said the Demon king
                              "Erm yes."
                              "Any news?"
"No, but I've been working on it, I came because I have a question."
"You know there's a limit to my patience, get me what I want and then I'll answer yo-"
"NOW" Screamed Vortex and it seemed the entire palace went even quieter than before. They stood in utter silence.
"Hmm, tell me, what question is this important?"
"D-did you burn down my village?" Whispered Vortex
                              "What?"
"DID YOU BURN DOWN MY VILLAGE!"
"Oh, yes." He said casually, and the silence set in.
                              "Y-yes?"
"Yes, I had to tell you eventually, don't know how you found it, brilliant plan on my behalf, you somehow survived so I took you in, and trained you to be the person you are today. I did brainwash you a bit, but you have to understand I only did it because your village was an enemy of the kingd-" blabbers the king while Vortex's anger was building. She gripped her scythe with such force that the wood began to crack. All those years she spent, hating the enemy, when really she had been serving him.
"I have another question for you." She spat between grinding teeth.
                              "Ugh fine."
"Who is it that I'm trying to kidnap."
                              "I can't answer that"
                              "Who."
"Fine, it won't make a difference, my granddaughter and her troop, the heirs to the the goddess and halfling throne."  The words seemed to echo in her ears. She quickly flew off before she did anything she regret. Back at her cave, she sat on her throne and thought about what she just learned about her teacher. The demon king had practically raised her, he hadn't raised her kindly, but he raised none the less.
He was her mentor figure, her guide. He had raised her on three words, 'they're the enemy'. He taught her everything she knew, every skilled attack, every tactic, he was behind it. She had been raised a bloodthirsty assassin who had never done a good thing in her life she realized. She never had done what she thought was right, only what others told her.
She was simply a pawn, a object with a single use. And once that use was fulfilled, she'd be cast away like nothing. She'd been raised on false love. On lies. She let out ear piercing scream at these thoughts and banged the armrest of her throne.
Uncontrollable tears were bursting through the mask. Avenging her village was her life goal. She planned on fulfilling it. She knew what she had to do. She flew to the palace as fast as she could and landed dead center of the throne room. Her hands trembled at the thought of what she would do.
"Back so soon?" He asked. Once she heard his voice, his voice that dripped with lies, she ran. Ran at the demon king with lightning quickness she swiftly sliced his head off and it tumbled to the ground. Vortex panted and picked up the head, it was already cold, it already had been before she even chopped it off. There was no warmth running through his veins, no blood. She looked at the rest of the body still on the throne.
Suddenly, black goop emerged from his neck, formed the shaped of his head and formed his bone, muscle, and covered it with the same pasty white skin. It formed his greasy black hair and his horns with the gem. His eyes were rolled into the back of his head, but he rolled them forward once more to reveal his tar black irises. Vortex gasped, she forgot he could do that. "I'm considering that treason, GUARDS!" He screamed as Vortex swooped out before they could close the balcony doors, head still in her grip. She had no regret about what she did, she knew she'd be hunted, and didn't know where she could go that was safe. Suddenly, it dawned upon her. She went to her cave and took all the gold she could carry, then flew into the directions of Blossoms forest.
Meanwhile, back at the base, Sans was being bombarded with questions about Vortex as Isa healed most of her wounds.
                              "Where's her lair?"
                              "What was in it?"
                              "Did you see her face?"
"How did you escape?" Everyone asked
"A mountain cave, it had gold, no I didn't see her face, and I escaped by breaking the gold cuffs, are you done?" She replied. Everyone was silent after that. "I don't think she's gonna come back, she looked pretty upset by what I said to her." Said Sans, she had already explained, except she left out the part about the axe. Isa continued her work on what Vortex had done. Sans blocking Vortexs blow left her arm bruised, and the lump on her head had swelled to the size of a golf ball. As she began to work on the scars that she didn't work on last time, from the tree battle, Sans told her to leave the ones on her legs and eyes.
"Why?" Asked Isa as the mouth on Sans's neck frowned as it slowly was sealed.
                              "Cuz scars are cool."
"Ugh, fine, but that is the worst reason I've ever heard." Suddenly, they heard a knock at the door.
"Who would be knocking here?" Asked Tamashi as they all crowded by the door. Sans opened it and saw Vortex. Before they could say or do anything, she threw the head at them.
"Don't know if you've seen him, but that's the demon kings head, he's not dead yet though. I've committed treason, and I know who you are." They all looked shocked. Then she threw a sack of gold at them. "You can keep it, if you let me stay, I don't even care if it's on your lawn, I just need to stay here, where he can't find me."
"If your the greatest assassin, why don't you just kill-."
                              "No one knows how."
"Why should we let you stay."
"Because I have all the current inside information, I can tell you everything you need to know." Replied Vortex. The four of them huddled together and discussed what to do.
                              "Ok, we've decided." Stated Erza.
"We'll let you stay, but while we're not keeping an eye on you, your staying in a prison cell, once we know we can trust you, we'll remove the bars." Said Sans
"Thanks." Muttered Vortex, still a bit untrusting herself.
