Nadia
We had not spoken much since the kiss and I felt as though he was avoiding me. It didn't seem fair that he was avoiding me, I did not want to fall back in love with Caleb just when I had got over him. None of this was fair. And anyways he was the one who kissed me, not the other way around.
I walked downstairs to be greeted by my parents. They had been behaving themselves recently, there had been no arguing and no tantrums, I had finally found some peace but I assumed that once Caleb was out they'd be back to normal.
"You two have been behaving yourselves recently," I say taking a yogurt out of the fridge whilst they were both cooking.
"We always behave ourselves Nadia, unlike some people," my mother replies using an accusing tone.
"You can't still be angry with me because of that situation," I snap back referring back to the night were Caleb and I stayed at the beach.
"Nadia do you blame us? It's not like you to go out partying the whole night and lie to us," my father says.
"Like I said it was my fault and I take full responsibility," I say once again.
I don't know why I kept defending him, especially after he had told me he was a "big boy". I guess it's because I knew I could handle my parents and I knew he couldn't."We just believe he is becoming a bad influence on you...." before they could continue I had to cut my father off.
"Dad his father is in hospital fighting for his life and he barely gets to see his little brothers that he basically raised, nows not the time to be dishing blame onto him," I explain and they looked at me gobsmacked.
Today was a bank holiday which meant we all had the day off from high school. I was planning on meeting with the girls to go to the beach downtown but life had other plans for me when someone knocked on the door. I went and opened it to find Trey and Marcel.
"So Nads what plans do we have today?" Trey says barging his way into my house.
"You may come in," I say sarcastically, as Marcel quietly apologises on behalf of his friends actions.
"Nadia you didn't answer the question?" Trey asks once again.
"I don't know about you boys but I'm heading to the beach with the girls,"
"Seems like fun, we get to see some girls in bikinis and ask some girls out, you never know miracles could happen tonight...Marcel might even get lucky," Trey laughs and I choke on my pancakes.
"Shut up I always get some," Marcel chides back and this is were I was drowned by their endless bickering about which one of them manages to get more girls. They were the definition of childish, well Trey was the epitome of childish.
Caleb walks down the stairs and I go to the sink to wash the dishes, I did not want to be put in an awkward position.
I could see through the corner of my eyes that Caleb looked at me but when I turned around to pick up a plate he instantly looked away and got back into his conversation with Marcel and Trey, basically acting as if I were not there.
All of a sudden my mother walks down the stairs.
"Caleb I have some good news, I got a call from the hospital and you're father has woken up,"
I smiled to myself whilst the boys went to go and congratulate Caleb. The boys left soon after as they were going to get some fresh clothes for Caleb's father from Aunt Doreen's house. Once they left I went over to Caleb and even though he was awkwardly staring at me I went and engulfed him in a warm hug.
"I'm really happy for you,"
"Thanks I appreciate it," he says whispering in my ear sending shocks through my body, familiar shocks like the ones I felt yesterday when he had kissed me.
A cough interrupts the hug and we both step away from each other.
"Nadia I want you to drive Caleb to the hospital, do you think you can do that?" My mother asks as she looks between us. I could tell she was being bitter. I nod in response and I quickly grab my purse and scurry out of there.
Once we got to the hospital we went straight to his room but I wanted to give Caleb some space with his father before going in so I stood outside.
"Come in with me I don't know if I can do this alone," he sighs. I hesitated at first, in my head it made more sense for him to see his father alone but considering the state of his father, he needed support so I grabbed his hand. He looked at me shocked when I held his hand but I just dragged him into the hospital room with me.
His Dad didn't look too bad but there were a few burn marks on his face that appeared because of the fire at their home. I assumed Caleb wanted me with him because he couldn't bare to watch his father like this.
"Caleb," His Dad exclaims and they hold each other in a hug.
"Mr Daniels, I'm so glad to hear you pulled through," I smile at him whilst they were letting go of their hug.
"Nadia wow you have grown up into a beautiful young lady," Mr Daniels smiles.
"Thank you sir," I say back.
"Nadia how long have I known you for, please just call me Isaac," he says.
"From what I've been hearing you've been a rock to my son so thank you I really appreciate that," he continues to say.
"He's a tough cookie just like his father," I reply looking at Caleb with a slight smile.
We sat there for a while until the boys came with clothes for Mr Daniels. Once they entered they made the room sound like a club as they were extremely loud. After a while the nurse comes in and tells us that Isaac has to take a break.
"Caleb you coming with us!" Trey calls him.
"You guys go without me there's something I need to do," he tells them and they wave goodbye to the both of us.
"Hey you mind if we go somewhere," he says to me with a suggestive tone.
"Depends what we are going to do?" I shrug with a slight smirk.
"Now that's a surprise," he holds my hand.
Even though, I didn't understand what any of this meant, I didn't care. Right now, I would live in the moment.
