Nadia
"Nadia! Get down here!"
Of course I could tell by the tone of my mother's voice that she needed me for something.
I quickly ran down the stairs to be confronted with both of my parents seated on the couch.
"We need to talk to you," my father started and I caught the gist of what they were about to tell me so I sputtered it out anyways.
"You're breaking up, aren't you," I said and they both looked shocked.
My parents had been constantly yelling and cursing at each other so I gathered that they had enough. Frankly, I was so done with it too.
"Oh no.. no... darling... Nadia why would you think of something so absurd?" my mother Peyton shrieked and I couldn't help but roll my eyes. So absurd... no what was absurd was the amount of yelling I had been inclined to listen to for the past year.
"Well the obvious.... you two have been screaming the place down and arguing every single day," I replied putting emphasis on the word single.
"Well Nadia, your mother and I are not breaking up and I'm sorry you have to see that but we promise it'll change," my father said. I had heard that sentence many times and clearly nothing was changing.
"Sure," I muttered under my breath.
"Anyways, we called you downstairs to tell you that we are having a visitor staying for a few weeks," I groaned in response I never liked it when people stayed with us as it got awkward fast especially when they walk in on you in the shower. I shuddered of the reminder of that embarrassing situation between myself and one of my brother's friends.
"Who is it?" I asked immediately and that's when the looks on their faces implied I wasn't going to like this.
"Caleb," My mother says and I just stare at them.
"Caleb...." I said blushing from the pure embarrassment.
Caleb Daniels was the son of my father's close friend and we had went on a family trip once upon a time and it was clear to everyone that I had developed a crush on him and to make matters worse he acted like he didn't know about my infactuation when he certainly did know. I guess he was trying to save me from embarrassment because he didn't feel the same.
"Yes, is there a problem with that?" My father asked.
"No but you know I like having my personal space, I just got Drew out of the house and now you want to stick another guy in here?" I groaned.
My brother Andrew had just left to go to college and I was starting to get used to it all by myself.
"Nadia... there was a fire at their house and his father is in a critical position so his aunt has offered to take his two younger brothers but as you two go to the same school it would make more sense for him to live here," I couldn't possibly argue with that but one thing played on my mind.
"Is Caleb alright?" I asked worried.
"Yes luckily he wasn't in the house but he did drag his brothers out to safety but he was to late for his father, the fire brigade got his father to safety but we'll have to see..." I exhale not actually realising that I was holding my breath. My crush had truly faded away for Caleb but I still cared for him even if he had a reputation of being a bit of a prick.
"Alright," I huffed not getting to say what I truly felt.
I quickly went back upstairs and called my two best friends to tell them what I had just been told. Pamela was my crazy, headstrong and confident best friend whilst Debbie was my reasonable, goofy and kind best friend. We all held very different qualities to each other but we were so alike too.
