Nadia POVAll of a sudden there was a bang that resounded through out the whole house.
"What was that?" I asked Marcus but he looks more confused. My first initial thought was to go and check on my parents so both Marcus and I hurry down the stairs to find my parents. When we got to the living room they were both standing and looking worried.
"Thank God you're alright! Where's Drew!" I shout as I run up the stairs.
The sight I saw made me scream. We all run up to him his abdomen seeping blood. Marcus calls the ambulance.
"Drew! Drew! Listen stay awake!" My Mum cries.
I sob uncontrollably as I realise Drew may not make it.
"I'm scared," he says whilst coughing out blood.
"Don't waste your energy Andrew! You're a big man! You'll be alright, toughen up," my Father says whilst holding his hand.
"I'm sorry I couldn't be the son you wanted," Drew whispers before slowly closing his eyes.
The ambulance burst in and placed him on the stretcher.
"Drew you're going to be okay? Mum! Dad! He'll be alright, won't he?" I ask but my Mum just cries in response whilst my Father just stares into the distance frozen.
Caleb POV
I picked up my sleeping bag from the ground and stuffed it in my bag. I had been staying at a shed not too far away from Aunt Doreen's. I went to the sink to freshen up.
My phone started to ring, it was Devonte. I decided that this was probably another plea to get me to come home. However, when Marcel and Trey joined in with the repetitive calls, I started to get a bad feeling. Something did not sit well within me.
"Hello?" I answered Devonte's call.
"Thank God! You're still alive! Mate something's happened, we're all at the hospital, Andrew's been shot and Nadia's in a bad place right now," As soon as I heard those words, I felt sick.
This was what I was trying to avoid. What if he was hurt because of me? Now Andrew was in a critical position. Even though, I left her I couldn't stand back and watch her in pain.
"I'm on my way," I told him ending the call jumping on the bus.
Once I reached the hospital, I asked for Andrew telling them I was a close friend. I stopped in my tracks when I saw them all. Pamela, Debbie, Devonte, Marcel and Trey were all sitting on the seats looking worried. Then there was Mr Johansen and Mrs Johansen who were just staring in the distance.
What hurt even more was seeing Nadia in Marcus's arms. It hurt me to know that I wasn't there for her.
Marcel was the first person to see me and as he stood up all the others saw me too. They all came and hugged me. I missed them, I truly missed our very dysfunctional family. Whilst hugging them all, I opened my eyes to see Nadia opening her eyes whilst hugging Marcus.
She looked broken. She stared at me for a while. I didn't know what her reaction would be and frankly I was terrified.
She left Marcus's arms and took slow strides towards me.
Then she pushed me backwards and I let her.
"I told you to stay! I told you to be here! You left! You thought that we'd be okay! Look what you've done!" She screamed at me whilst continuously pushing me backwards. I tried to console her and I tried to stop her her from lashing out as I slowly took her arms and embraced her in a hug.
"We're in this position because of you," she sobbed whilst in my arms and hearing her cry and listening to her blame me told me that I had to sort this out.
I was tired of running.
