Nadia POVI finally had the courage to tell him how much I loved him. When I saw him in danger it was then that I knew I could not live without him.
We were now sitting on the couch watching the series "Queen of the south". We were home alone because both Mom and Dad were at the hospital.
I told the girls everything but I assured them that I was alright. I also spoke to Marcus and even though at first he told me I was making a huge mistake when I explained the whole situation to him he finally understood and wished us the best of luck. All I wanted to do now was be alone with Caleb.
"This is different for us," I mumble into his chest.
"Good different though," he smiles kissing the top of my head.
"Definitely," I reply as I smile. I couldn't stop smiling, that was the issue.
"You are allowed to be happy, you know," he said lifting my chin up to look at him and I looked away. Can I? Am I supposed to be this happy when my brother was laying in a hospital bed?
"I don't know it just feels....wrong?" And he nodded in understanding. If anyone understood how I was feeling it was him.
"I get you, it kills me inside you know to think that I put you through all that hell," and it was at that moment I felt the guilt soaring in. I was making him think about it.
"I'm sorry, I'm not good company, am I?" He chuckles in response.
"As long as you're here I'm good and you know what else ....this.... you and I it feels right," he tells me.
"It does," I say pecking him on the lips.
"I better leave before your father comes back though, he isn't the biggest fan of me," he says as we both sit up.
"Which is stupid... my father wouldn't be happy with you leaving me here all alone after today's events," I wink and he laughs.
"That's true, I have to be here to take care of you," he plays along.
"Hey.. that's just an excuse I am capable to look after myself any other day.... I just want you here right now,"
"Don't worry, you're still the strong independent girl I know which was shown by today's antics, your reputation has not been tainted," he chuckles lifting his hands up in surrender.
"I know you're still slightly pissed about what I did..." as I refer to my antics from earlier.
"Too right, he could've shot you right there and then when you were yelling,"
"I just had enough, I couldn't hold it together anymore... but I'm proud of you," I say a genuine smile creeping up on my face.
"Why? What did I do?" He asks confused.
"You involved the police when I know that goes against all your values," it did take guts. The amount of rules and guidelines that came with their territory was horrible but I was just glad he was out of it now and there was no going back.
"Well when your family and the girl you love are in danger, all your values go in the bin," he mumbles into my hair.
"The girl you love yeah?" I say teasing him.
"Don't make me say it again..." he rolls his eyes as I look up at him.
"Well then maybe I should take it back," I laugh and he looks gobsmacked.
"You wouldn't dare," he states whilst tickling me, making me laugh and move uncontrollably making the both of us fall on the ground, me on top of him.
"Fine I love you!" I giggle as he started to stop.
Just when we were leaning in, the doorbell rang ensuing Caleb's groan due to the distraction and me chuckling at his reaction.
"I wonder who it is..." Caleb says before I get up and he walks to get the door.
It was officer Blake.
"Caleb, Nadia, I've got some news, would you like to take a seat?" She starts.
"No you can tell us..." I respond a little agitated to know the truth.
"Well Jordan is in a very critical position but if he does survive... he will be charged for attempted murder on your father and the arson to your family home, also minor crimes he has done previously that we now convict him on," she explains.
"And what about him attempting to kill my brother?" I ask aggravated.
"I'm afraid we've taken tests from your brother and the crime scene and it wasn't Jordan who shot Andrew,"
"So then who was it?" I ask not liking the sound of what she was about to say.
"We're not sure... Nadia is there anyone that may be after any of your family members," she asks me and I shake my head.
"So what you're saying is that there is someone still out there after the Johansen family?" Caleb questions worried.
"I'm afraid that's what the evidence shows... I'll be asking you and your family to come in for questioning another day," she says as she gives me her card.
"If anything comes to you... call me," she assures as she walks out leaving the both of us in shock.
