~Zac~

I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. I quickly grabbed it off the night stand and took the charger out, hoping it wouldn't wake Taylor.

"H-hello?" I cleared my throat.

"Hi, Zachary Efron?" A man with husky voice said.

"This is he." I said sitting up.

"I'm Sargent Logan from the Army National Guard and I have been requested to call you and ask if you are available to come help serve for a few months. We hear you have had some military training back when?" He said. I couldn't understand why they would be calling me

"Uh yes sir. But that was light years ago. Back in college maybe." I started.

"Well unfortunately, I'm not giving you much of a choice." He said deeply.

"Is that so?" I said getting annoyed. I didn't even know this man.

"If you were to serve with us for eight months at the least, we would be willing to reimburse you 13 million dollars to be exact." He said smoothly.

"13 MIL-" I started to elevate my tone but Taylor twitched in her sleep so I lowered my voice again.

"13 million?!" I said in a half hushed tone.

"Exactly. Now what do you say?" He said urgently.

"Where would we be stationed?" I asked curiously.

"Iraq." He replied.

"Well, I'd have to consult with my wife before making any decisions." I said quietly.

"You can give me your answer now, and if she disagrees you can always call me back at this number." He said.

"Alright, well..." I looked over at my sweet angel sleeping next to me. I couldn't leave her... But it would give us a chance to start rebuilding our life and to move into a new house again, I knew Taylor wanted more kids. So... I guess I could go... it's only eight months. That's less than a year. Alright, why not?

"I accept your offer, sir." I said extra quiet.

"Wonderful. I'll send over some waivers and other papers for you to start filling out to send back for your application and admission into our troop. Thank you Zachary, we look forward to working with you."

"Thank you sir." We hung up and that's when Taylor started to wake up.

"Good morning..." She said weakly.

"Morning angel." I said as I brushed hairs out of her face. She smiled at me with her eyes closed still.

"Lemme see your beautiful eyes.." I said to her, touching her face softly. She slowly opened her eyes and smiled again.

"I love you so much. I'm so lucky to wake up with you next to me everyday... You know that?" She started. My heart dropped low into my stomach and my chest fluttered.

"Yes, and I'm lucky to wake up next to you everyday beautiful...and I love you so much more..." I said back to her trying not to cry. She noticed my unhappiness.

"What's wrong Zac?" She frowned and sat up some.

"What? Oh, nothing. I am just really happy that you are mine. That's all, and nothing more." I said easily. I could tell she knew I was lying but she just gave in this time.

"Oh, well I'm happy you're mine to." She said sort of disappointed.

"I love you..." I said to her hoping she'd say it back.
