~Nelle~
"Mom!!" I called her from the top of the stairs. She was in the kitchen making lunch for all of us.
"Yeah?!" She called back. Today was my birthday and I was so excited. I was turning 6! I'm practically an adult already! My mom was so sad that I was growing up so fast but it's okay because I was happy! Brennan came running down the stairs almost knocking me over.
"Ugh, Brennan! Watch where you're going!" I shouted at him, but not too loud."Well then don't stand in the way you booger, and don't yell!" He snarled. Like I said, I didn't yell that loud. Just loud enough so he got my point I was trying to get across; which was, don't run into me because I'm unintentionally in your way! Anyway, I can't wait to be 6! 2:46 pm, I will be! It was currently 11:30 am. "Mom can you do my hair, please?! I'm not getting dressed yet." I called to her.
"Yeah! Sure thing, c'mere!" She hollered back. I came bounding down the stairs and into the bathroom.
"What are you gonna do with it?" I asked looking in the mirror as she came behind me. She took my messy bun out and then ran her fingers through my hair. Then she reached for a brush and some detangling spray. She sprayed it in my hair and then carefully brushed through my long blonde hair.
"Want some little buns with braids on the top?" She asked running her fingers through my hair again.
"Sure! Just make sure they're not too tight." I liked when my hairstyles were looser and messy. I only did my hair flat and straight up for dance competitions and things like that. It was uncomfortable and made my scalp fall asleep.
"Okay, hold still please." She said lightly to me.
"Okay, mommy." I finished as she turned my head straight towards the mirror. She started by parting my hair down the middle. She tied one side in a ponytail and then took a small section from the top of my hair and started to french braid it back. When she was done with the braid she secured the end with a small, clear elastic. Then she grabbed the rest of my hair and pulled it into a messy bun. Before she secured it, she took out the elastic from the end of the braid and tucked it into the bun. Then she put a hair-tie around it multiple times making it all messy. Just like I wanted it. She then did the same to the other side, added some hairspray and then smiled at me in the mirror.
"How's that?" She asked, placing her hands on my shoulders.
"I love it, thanks!" I turned to hug her. She put the hair stuff away and then I went upstairs to get dressed. Usually, my mom picks out my outfits but today, I decided to tackle the challenge. I put on my GAP pull-over, blue jeans, and I was just wearing some rain boats because it was muddy out. I ran passed her before she could see me and quickly yelled, "Follow me!" As I zipped past her. I ran out into the backyard. I wanted her to take a picture of me. She came out, while she turned to close the glass door I yelled to her, "Cover your eyes! It's a surprise....hey! That rhymes." I said proudly. She covered her eyes and stood frozen at the bottom of the stairs.
"Okay, open them!" I said. She opened her eyes slowly and smiled like an idiot when she saw me.
"Why are you smiling like that?" I asked her, she looked like she just saw something funny.
"Nothing, I'm not--I just think your outfit is cute." She said, still with the same smile on her face.
"You lieeee, but it's whatever because I like my outfit!" I said. "Take my pictureee it's my birthdayyy!" I danced around and sang.
"Okay, hold still and strike a pose!" She said holding the camera towards me. I placed my hand on my cheek while resting my elbow on my other arm. Then I tilted my head and gave a side smirk.
