Nelle's POV
"Brennan! Knock it off! Don't take my picture!" I raised my voice at him.
"No, you look cute!" He lied.
"Shut up! Get out of my room!" I yelled.
"Just let me take your picture! C'mon, it'll take two seconds! Smile!" He said quickly putting the camera back in my face. I turned to him and gave him a serious look, with annoyance masked within it. Just enough so that it was apparent in the photo.
"What?! That wasn't a smile, Nelle!" He protested.
"No! You got your picture now get out!" We got louder and louder. I heard my mom coming down the hallway.
"What is goin' on up here?" She asked entering my room.
"He keeps taking my picture without asking, isn't that like illegal or something?! Don't I have to give verbal or written consent!" I crossed my arms in front of me.
"Mom, before you say anything, look how cute she is!" Brennan said as my mom started to give him an annoyed look. He held the phone up so she could see it and I immediately saw a smile appear on her face.
"Awww, you do look really cute Nelle!" She smiled up at me, the same smile she had while she was looking down at the photo.
"Mom! That isn't the point! The point is, I didn't want my photo being taken right now!" I said seriously.
"Okay okay, you're right." She turned to Brennan again.
"Bren, don't take pictures of people without their permission okay?" She asked as nicely as she could. He smiled sweetly at her and then looked back at me.
"You're right, sorry Nelle," He gave me a fake smile and then turned back to mom.
"Sorry mommy, I won't do it again. If we're done here, I'm just gonna turn my attention back to my room."
"That made no sense," I sneered.
"C'mon Nelle," My mom gave me a weak smile trying to push that comment aside.
"Why am I the one that's wrong again!?" I asked, starting to get angry with the two of them. She always seemed to be on Brennan's side and not mine.
"I have a serious question," I said looking at my mom in the eyes now.
"Okay..." She looked a little worried, funny, she's never been too worried about me before.
"Why do you love me less than everyone else?" I started to feel my chest heat up and the tears rolled around behind my eyes begging to leave them.
"Nelle..." My mom cocked her head back and looked sick to her stomach. "I...I don't. What makes you think that?" She asked sadly.
"I know you do! Don't lie to me!" I started getting impossibly angrier.
"Nelle, calm down! Let's talk it out, not yell.." She tried to stay calm.
"Don't tell me to calm down! You know you love me less don't even try to tell me you don't because I see the way things go around here! You should've stopped at Brennan, then he could be your shining star like he is right now! I'm just the mistake right!?" I said, I knew I wasn't a mistake but I was doubting myself right now.
"No! That is not true, Eleanor!" She raised her voice now.
"Yes, it is! Tell me it's not and I still won't believe you!" I spit back.
"Nelle quit this now! Talk to me, calmly and we can come to a compromise. I mean seriously, you always take things out of control, just calm down and think for a min--..." She went on and on. I was getting so hot I felt like I could start sweating. I felt my head start to shake, I didn't know why but it did. I stared at my mom and all I wanted her to do was stop talking. I didn't know why she kept on going, but she did and it was making me so angry. I swiftly jerked my head to one side and the door slammed shut with force. I could feel the air come at me from all the way back here on my bed. My mom turned around slowly and stared at the door. Then finally she turned even slower back to face me.
