Jacob's pov

"That is it!! I have had it up to here, Jacob! Either you get your bloody life together or find somewhere else to live!" Jody scolds, yelling at me in the hallway of this god forsaken police station.

How I got back here, you really don't want to know, but how I'm going to get out, that's the tricky one. Mostly because I have not a clue.

Okay fine, I'll tell you how I got here. Y'know that one old lady down the block that always bugs the life out of you? Well, imagine her, but ten times more persistent and irritating. Still imagining her, picture her small little house. Pastel yellow with beds upon beds of flowers, an unnecessary amount of flowers. Her pretty blue doors, still shining with gloss because of how recent her last paint job was. Those metal bolts in the doors she's never used before, hell, she's probably left the door wide open some nights. But those small metal bolts in the doors she's never used before, if she won't use them there must be a reason. I don't care about the reason, all I care about is those metal bolts in the doors she's never used before. And how I'm going to get through those pretty blue doors effortlessly.

Honestly, it was easier than strutting through the sliding glass doors of a stop-in store. With a gentle twist of my fingertips against the shiny gold knob, I enter. Okay, maybe strutting through the sliding glass doors of a stop-in store is easier, but really, it was that simple. And just like that, I rummaged through her fridge and ate for the first time in days. That is until Officer Douchebag McGee spotted me and took me to the station. I know for a fact if it were Shaun, he would've just yelled at me and sent me on my way before the bug of a lady woke up. But no, this rozzer just wants me to get in trouble with my parole officer.

And that lands us where we are now, Jody himself throwing a paddy at me for getting a bite to eat.

"You and Angie don't provide me with food or money to get food, what else was I supposed to do?!" I shout back. Two can play at his foolish game.

"Get your shit together, Jacob!" He booms, waving his hands around like some lunatic.

"Quit trying to be my fucking parent, Jody! You're not my fucking dad, you never will be!" I retort, stepping closer to him.

"I wouldn't dare to try and be your father. Wouldn't want you to fuck me up to like you did to everyone else in your family." He spits, making me falter.

Well, he did it. Struck home.

"Fuck you," I choke out as a tear slips past my cheek.

Everything stops in time as I watch his fist move from his waist, to the air, landing smack down on my cheekbone. My skin mushes to the side as his knuckles dig into my cheek. In seconds that feel like minutes, hours even, his hand retracts and he steps closer to give me another conk to the face. I fall back, down onto the ground, my head hitting the floor with a bang.

Just in time, Officer Mellet runs over to us and steps between our bodies, pressing his hand to Jody's chest to get him to back up.

"Hey, what's with all the argy-bargy? What's going on here?" He questions sternly, glaring at Jody.

I groan in agony, lifting my head to glance at him then shutting my eyes, letting my head fall back down on the floor.

"Fuckhead's just being a fuckhead." I sigh, peeking my eyes open to see Shaun holding out a hand to help me up. I take it and hop up, nodding his way as to say thank you.

"Jody, is it?" Shaun asks the still fuming Jody who nods yes.

"Get lost before I get you in trouble yourself. I'll take it from here." He demands, pointing down the hall to the door leading outside.

"He's my-"

"Now."

Jody huffs, storming out of the station like a kid who just got caught stealing lollies.

Shaun turns back to me, his eyes on my cheek.

"You okay? That thing already looks ugly." He says, pointing to my swelled up cheek.

"I'm alright, Jody's always had pretty good aim." I chuckle, stepping back and leaning against the wall. Shaun joins me and slouches his back against the wall.

"Does he do this often?"

"Only when I rile him up. I can't say I didn't see it coming." I mutter, keeping my eyes trained on the floor.

"Hey, I know it's a stretch, but can you sneak me out of here? If you don't Jody gave them orders to keep me in a cell overnight... I'd really rather not." I make my words out to be nonchalant but my pleading eyes for sure say something different.

I glance at him to see him nodding.

"Sure, but I'm not ditching you on the street."
