(unedited bc i'm a tired pup)
Troye's pov
"We were eleven, it was allowed to be awful and cringey." Ben guffaws, holding a hand over his mouth as he leans back in the chair.
Jacob chuckles next to me while I stay silent, sipping my tea while trying to hide my flushed cheeks with the cup.
"First kisses are meant to be awful, don't stress it, baby." Jacob elbows me, leaning his head against mine.
I sputter in the tea and lean my head back giggling, "Eleven year old boys aren't supposed to run away to the woods and kiss under a willow tree. They're supposed to play with toys and stuff, learn multiplication."
Ben shakes his head, scrunching up his nose, "Eleven year old boys should do as they please... but was it really that bad? Did you not like our little smooch in the forest?"
I suck my bottom lip through my teeth, shaking my head as I fall against Jacob's arm, unable to control my laughter.
"It was alright, a great first kiss." I nod my head, picking my cuppa back up and sipping it.
Ben chuckles, pressing a fist to his chin in pride.
"Yeah, yeah, now back to what I was saying, why aren't you two going to the after party ceremony? C'mon," Ben coos, giving us persistent and pleading eyes.
I groan into my tea while Jacob looks to me. I tilt the cup down, pulling it from my lips and giving them an unimpressed look.
"Really guys? You both know parties aren't my thing... and it is at Alfie's. I'm not cool with him, he's all," I set the cup down and throw my hands in the air. "He's surely going to be the king of his fraternity when he accepts that noble football scholarship we all know he's been offered. He's just... not someone I want to be around on a night of celebration."
Jake nods, understanding because of the stories I've told him. Ben on the other hand pouts.
"Come on, you don't have to be around him. It's going to be the entire academy raging there. I want you two to get out and get loose, you two seem to always be huddled indoors being domestic and shit. You're young, you've got many years ahead to be domestic and shit... come to the party, I promise you'll have fun."
"Bennnny," I whine.
Jacob pats my back, "We'll think about it."
Ben cheers, throwing a hand up in victory, "Yes!"
"You two suck," I grumble, a pouty smile painted on my lips.
Both my friend and boyfriend smirk at each other and throw finger guns in the air, making me roll my eyes at them and steal their tea, the two obviously more interested in conversation than good tea. It's their loss. Jake and Benny seemed to click by the end of our little meet-up, Jacob not shutting up about how much he liked him on the way to the academy. For heaven's sake, he even invited Ben over to lunch with Joe and Caspar, the duo seeming to form a quartet of joy. I pipped in every now and then but most of the day was spent with my boyfriend and what may become my best friend all over each other starting to bloom a beautiful friendship.
I adore that Jacob's made another friend, I do, but I've barely managed to steal one kiss from him today.
"I want my annoying, clingy boyfriend baaaack," I whinge through my mobile to Susan, who simply chuckles at my pettiness.
"Well then go snatch your annoying, clingy boyfriend back. Simple as that." She hums.
I huff, crossing my arms over my chest and glancing inside through the window to see Jacob on the couch texting none other than Ben.
