Jacob's pov
Waking up alone; something I've done all of my life.
But I've grown used to having a sleepy and smiley boy in bed next to me.
I couldn't help but frown and stay in bed a little while longer staring out the window above the desk. I stayed in bed until Troye's alarm went off again, yelling at me to get up and get ready. Yawning into his pillow, I squeeze my eyes shut then groan out, muttering to myself about how tired I am. Begrudgingly, I get out of bed and get myself together, ready to go see Troye and head to the academy within twenty minutes. I meet Shaun downstairs to see him sitting at the table with a bowl of porridge waiting for me.
"You're slow without him." He murmurs, nodding to the chair, telling me to sit down.
I slide into the chair and take a spoon of the porridge, "I'm just tired, couldn't sleep much."
He nods, "Me neither."
He takes a sip of his orange juice and gets up, "I'm gonna go start up the car, meet me out there when you're done."
I mumble an alright and finish up my food, cleaning up our dishes and heading out to the car in no time. My shoes and book bag already being in the car, me leaving them in the front seat last night. I'm a little everywhere right now if you can't tell.
We drive off to the treatment centre and pull into the lot, the both of us buzzing in both excitement and nervousness.
"You ready to see him?"
"I think so."
...
Troye's pov
"Troye, you've got some visitors." A lady in teal scrubs peeks her head in the room.
My watch lady, Charlie, looks over and nods.
"Up and at 'em," Charlie chirps.
I groan under my breath and sit up in the uncomfortable bed, feeling my back crack in ways a back shouldn't crack. I wrap the thin blanket around the gown I'm in and stand up. My socked feet wiggle against the tile floor a bit from the temperature drop. It is freezing here.
"No blanket." She orders, shaking her head. "Rules."
I pout, "I'm cold."
"Well then ask your parents to send in some clothes for you. No strings, shorts, tanks, shoe laces, hoodies, or articles of clothing with metal in them." She informs, sitting up from her chair and walking to the door.
I set the blanket back down, "That's stupid, I just wanna go home."
She nods, waving to the door while the other lady walks away back to the lobby.
"We just want you to go home too, kid, your parents just need you safe." She sighs.
I trudge over to her and out of the room into the hallway, not bothering to correct her about only having one parent.
"I'm not depressed or anything if that's what you're implying." I mutter, following her down the hall to visiting.
"That's because all the medications you're on right now have got you too neutral to even let you process emotion. We've got paperwork from your psychiatrist, Troye, you were diagnosed not longer than a week ago." Charlie explains.
"You're mean, I should tell my Dad about you... He's a police officer." I tease, making her roll her eyes.
"Please... go ahead."
"Nah, I kinda like you, even if you are rude to me." I shrug, hopping over the cracks in the tiles.
She sighs, "It's just my job... We're here. I'm going to wait by the door, just walk back over here when you're finished. And don't try anything, you're being watched."
I nod and pass through the doors, being enveloped into a room of far too many people chattering away. Jacob and Dad are spotted in the middle of the room, looking in my direction and both smiling as they see me. I mask up a small smile and walk over to them.
"Hey Daddy." I whisper and sit down onto Jacob's lap, wrapping an arm around his neck.
Both Dad and Jacob's eyes widen a bit, Dad musters up a hello.
"Were you... talking to me?" Jacob murmurs in my ear, wrapping his arms around my waist. It would be a lot less dirty if this gown didn't show off my tush.
I nod, "Mhm."
His cheeks flush and he looks over to Dad warily.
I kiss his pink cheeks and rest my head on his shoulder.
And then a staff member steps in and ruins my fun, "Mellet, in a chair please."
I pout and get up off of my boyfriend's lap, sitting down in the chair next to him while Dad is sat across from us with an amused look.
"This place is so boring. They just kinda watch you stare at a wall all day." I mutter, propping my elbow up on the chair and leaning my head in my hand.
"They even watch you shower, god forbid you try to drown yourself in the shower." I scoff.
Dad shakes his head, "Not funny, Tro."
"Sorry," I whisper, "Tell me, what are you two up to?"
They both shrug. "Not much, just work for me and school for Jacob."
I roll my eyes, "Come on, I need something good."
Jacob smirks a bit, "That crow is still outside your window tapping on the glass. At one point last night I got sick of it and threw a pillow at the window. Little guy didn't budge. So I opened the window and chilled with him for a bit. His name is Garrett."
I quirk up an eyebrow, smiling at him.
"You don't say... He didn't try to come inside or anything?" I question.
"Nah, he just hung out by the sill and squawked at me every now and then." Jacob smiles charmingly at me, making me look away bashfully.
"That's the kind of tea I needed spilt, thank you."
"Alright, I need more." I add, looking between Dad and Jacob and rubbing my hands together.
