Prompt is the second to last one and I was thinking about doing the first one at some point? So let me know if you'd like to see that one or any of the others.

. .  . .

Phil sat in the sand as the waves washed over his feet. He sighed, trying to collect his thoughts. His fancy shoes, which had been kicked off, lay behind him in the sand. He pulled the stupid ring off his finger, staring at it as tears started cascading down his face. How could he be so stupid? He chucked the ring as far as it could and the ocean swallowed it whole.

He events from the afternoon flooded into his head an he struggled to not cry harder. He'd just been left at the altar and his stupid fiancee couldn't even tell him to his face! He had to be told by his mother. He wished he'd never gone on that stupid date to begin with but no he just had to get over his ex.

"Ph-phil?"

Phil jumped back at the expected voice and whirled around. His vision may have been blurry but he could make out that mop of brown hair anywhere. Speak of the devil, he thought.

"You alright?"

Phil turned back to the ocean and shrugged. Why did he have to choose their special place? Of all the places he could have chosen.

"Aren't you meant to be getting married or something?"

Phil glared, he wished he hadn't invited Dan but the two were best friends once upon a time. "Didn't work out," he muttered, his voice hoarse.

"I'm sorry."

They both stopped talking and Dan sat next to him. The only sound was the waves crashing on the shore.

"I'm sorry I didn't go. You invited me and we were best friends before everything else and that was a jerk move of me."

"Then why didn't you?"

Dan sighed, "I thought I would be stupid if I did go. I thought you were only inviting me out of common courtesy."

That kind of was what Phil did but also the two hadn't seen each other in over a year. "She left," Phil muttered. It felt nice to tell Dan. After all, the two had been best friends before everything.

"I'm sorry," Dan responded, his voice was equally as low.

"Not your fault."

"That doesn't mean I'm not sorry."

"I'm sorry that we stopped being friends after everything," Phil admitted.

"Me too. You're a good friend. I think we just needed a break before we could be anything other than romantic."

"What even happened?"

"We both needed to focus on ourselves, I think."

"I didn't want to."

"I know. Neither did I but I think we needed it."

"You think we could do it?" Phil muttered.

"What?"

"Get back together."

Dan sighed, "Maybe but not yet. You're in pain and I don't want you to do something you'd regret. I'm still not sure if you're drunk or not. She meant a lot to you, didn't she?"

"Not at first. At first, I just wanted to get over you but then I started to actually like her. I'm not, you know, drunk, by the way."

They both sat in silence for a moment, focusing on their thoughts.

"Why'd you come here?" Dan asked. "Of all the places, why here? I thought you'd find a special place with her."

Phil sighed, "I didn't know at first. But I think I remembered being happy here and right now that's all I want. To be happy again. I don't think she and I were right for each other after all."

"Maybe not."

"She did make me happy, for a bit, but I don't think she and I were meant to be long term."

"Not everything is."

"Thanks for listening. I'm actually kinda surprised you didn't get mad at her, if I remember correctly."

"Oh, I'm fuming but I think you need a little calm right now."

"Thanks... Why'd you come here anyway?" Phil asked.

"I never stopped. I love it here and I didn't want to stop coming here just because we broke up."

"Good... I don't think I'd regret it, you know."

"What?"

"Getting back together with you. I was happier with you than with her, I think."

Dan smiled, "Maybe but you need time to heal. Think things through and if you decide that we should get back together then we'll talk."

Phil scooted over and rested his head on Dan's shoulder. "Thank you. I think that's what I needed to hear. I missed you."

"I missed you, too."

I feel like this one was very... calming? I dunno how to describe it but I couldn't decided if I wanted to continue so that they actually got together? So if you all would like to see that I can make a part two.

Also, I stayed the night at my Aunt's over the weekend which was a ton of fun ((we mostly rode four-wheelers, played with the dogs(she breeds dogs) and played Super Mario Brothers one and two on the wii))
