"Ashton, oh my god, what happened?" Luke asked pulling Ashton into the apartment.
He inspected Ashton's bruised cheek and bloody nose.
"Jack." Ashton whispered sadly.
"That asshole." Luke growled.
"What happened?" Calum asked walking over and handing Luke a damp towel.
"Alex was there when I got home. I blew up at him and it pissed Jack off. We argued. We fought. He punched me." Ashton answered his voice quiet.
At that moment Ashton's phone rang.
"It's him." Ashton sighed.
"Don't answer that." Luke snapped taking the phone.
"He'll get pissed if I don't." Ashton said worriedly.
"By the looks of things he already is." Michael pointed out.
"He'll worry where I am." Ashton bit his lip.
"Let him worry." Luke seethed.
"Luke's right. Just stay here tonight. Let both of you calm down." Calum said putting a comforting hand on Ashton's shoulder.
Ashton nodded but remained silent.
Luke wiped gently at Ashton's blood stained face.
"Are you okay? Does your nose feel broken?" Luke asked his tone full of concern.
"No." Ashton shook his head.
"I'll get you a clean shirt." Luke said holding an ice pack to Ashton's cheek.
Ashton placed his hand on the ice as Luke turned to leave.
Ashton had never had someone take care of him like this. Jack certainly didn't.
"Here, this should fit you." Luke returned holding a black t shirt.
"Thanks." Ashton gave a small smile.
"You can sleep in my bed, I have a couch in my room I can crash on." Luke said leading Ashton to his room.
"I don't want to kick you out of your bed." Ashton shook his head.
"I'm not letting you sleep on a couch." Luke said crossing his arms.
Ashton couldn't help but smile.
"Thank you, Luke." Ashton said quietly.
"It's just a bed." Luke shrugged.
"No, I mean, for taking care of me." Ashton said looking down at his hands.
"That's what friends are for." Luke smiled.
Ashton only nodded not looking up.
"I'm gonna get some blankets, I'll be right back." Luke said before disappearing out his door.
Luke walked in to the living room to hear Michael and Calum arguing in hushed voices.
"What's going on?" Luke frowned.
"Michael thinks Ashton might have feelings for you." Calum sighed.
"What? That's ridiculous." Luke snorted.
"I think you should tell him how you feel." Michael spoke up.
"I don't." Calum disagreed.
"I don't know what you think I feel." Luke frowned.
"But nothing is gonna happen between Ashton and I. We're just friends."
"Good." Calum nodded obviously pleased.
"Luke, it's painfully obvious that you have feelings for him." Michael rolled his eyes.
"No, I don't." Luke argued before grabbing blankets from the closet and walking out.
Ashton peeled off his bloody shirt and pulled on Luke's t shirt. It fit a bit loose but Ashton liked it. He sat down on Luke's bed when Luke returned.
"The shirt fits." Luke smiled. He liked seeing Ashton in his shirt.
"Thanks." Ashton smiled shyly.
"If you'd rather be alone, I can crash on the couch out there." Luke offered sensing Ashton might be uncomfortable.
"No." Ashton answered quickly.
"I-I don't really want to be alone." Ashton shifted nervously.
"Then I'm here." Luke said sweetly taking a step towards Ashton.
The two looked at each other for a moment before tears started down Ashton's face.
Luke gently pulled Ashton to him. Ashton gripped Luke's shirt as he let Luke hold him. It felt nice to have someone care.
"I'm so sorry he did this to you." Luke spoke against Ashton's hair.
"He's never hit me before." Ashton sniffled.
"He shouldn't have. I wouldn't have. just sayin'." Luke said gently.
"I know that relationships take work but sometimes I feel like ours is more work than it should be." Ashton sighed.
"Then maybe there shouldn't be a relationship anymore." Luke suggested cautiously.
"You think I should break up with him." Ashton said sadly pulling away from Luke.
"I just think you need to do what makes you happy." Luke said trying not to upset Ashton.
"Jack makes me happy." Ashton answered.
"Really? Look in the mirror and tell me you look happy." Luke spoke gently.
Instead of answering Ashton broke down into tears again.
Once again Luke pulled him close.
"Shh, it's okay, just rest tonight. You can think more clearly tomorrow." Luke suggested running gentle circles on Ashton's back. He didn't mean to upset Ashton further.
Ashton nodded wiping away tears. He knew Luke was right but he loved Jack and he didn't want to give up on him.
"Why don't you get some rest." Luke pulled back the covers on his bed.
Ashton dropped his pants so he was in nothing but boxers and Luke's shirt. He took the shirt off and climbed into Luke's bed. Luke pursed his lips trying not to stare at the gorgeous mostly naked boy in his bed.
"I'll be right over here." Luke said as he laid on the couch on the other side of his room.
"Thank you so much Luke. You're a great friend." Ashton spoke quietly.
"Of course." Luke replied sadly.
The two laid in silence for a few minutes when Ashton spoke up again.
"Hey Luke."
"Hmmm?"
"Goodnight."
Luke felt a smile tug at his lips.
"Goodnight, Ashton."
