Jack cleared his throat causing Luke to pull away from Alex.
"S-sorry about that." Luke wiped his bottom lip and avoided looking at either Jack or Ashton.
Ashton sat stunned by what he'd just witnessed. He felt jealousy and anger. The look on Jack's face proved he felt the same.
"Let's all take a walk through the garden." Alex suggested standing up.
"Good idea, I could use some air." Jack mumbled before heading out of the restaurant.
"Guess I'll pay." Ashton sighed.
"I got this you go ahead." Luke urged Alex. Alex placed a kiss on Luke's cheek before hurrying after Jack.
"He makes you pay too?" Ashton asked.
"No, he got the last date." Luke answered.
"Wait, Jack always makes you pay?" Luke asked frowning at Ashton.
Ashton only gave a half shrug.
"I'd never do that."
Luke took the check from Ashton's hand then handed the waiter his card and both checks.
"Just sayin'."
Ashton smiled at Luke. He truly was a great guy.
"So sorry about that kiss." Luke apologized looking down at his hands.
"It's okay. You seem like you're starting to like him." Ashton smiled sadly.
"I mean he's a great guy and a pretty good boyfriend but...he's not you." Luke spoke shyly.
"Why are you so perfect?" Ashton sighed.
"What?" Luke frowned up at Ashton.
"If this whole thing with Jack wasn't such a disaster I'd be with you in a heartbeat." Ashton explained.
Luke only smiled. He wanted to be understanding of Ashton's situation but he felt like Ashton truly did love Jack and just desperately wanted Jack to feel the same way. Luke couldn't let that happen.
Once the waiter returned with the checks Luke and Ashton made their way to the garden.
"Wait, do you hear that?" Luke whispered stopping Ashton. Jack and Alex were arguing.
"Was that kiss really necessary in front of me?" Jack snapped.
"He's my boyfriend, Jack. If you weren't so wrapped up in your little act with Ashton you're the one I'd be kissing." Alex spat.
"Do you even like him?" Jack asked in irritation.
"Yes, I actually do. But I'm in love with you." Alex answered back just as irritated.
"Then kiss me." Jack demanded.
"I already told you no." Alex snapped.
"Just because you didn't have a problem cheating on Ashton and treating him like shit doesn't mean I don't have a problem doing it to Luke."
"You know I only treat him like that cause I'm trying to get him to break up with me." Jack snapped back.
"Why don't you actually try to be a decent boyfriend to him and maybe you'll actually fall for him." Alex sounded pissed.
"Is that what you want?" Jack demanded.
"Yeah, then maybe we can both move on. Your dad doesn't want us together so why continue hiding this. Let's just move on." Alex barked.
"Fine." Jack barked back.
At that moment Luke and Ashton stepped around the large hedge.
"There you two are." Ashton smiled.
"Hey, sexy." Alex winked as he wrapped an arm around Luke.
"Ashton, I have something I want to ask you." Jack said suddenly turning towards the curly haired guy.
Ashton recalled the phone conversation about Jack looking at engagement rings. He felt all the blood rush from his face.
Was he doing this? Really? Was he really willing to spend the rest of his life with Ashton?
"Where do you see us in 5 years from now?" Jack asked.
Ashton swallowed hard.
"I-I don't know." Ashton stuttered.
"Do you think we'll still be together?" Jack asked.
"I don't even know if we'll still be together tomorrow." Ashton answered honestly.
"I see." Jack nodded thoughtfully.
"W-why Do you ask?" Ashton frowned.
"Could you see yourself married to me?" Jack asked ignoring Ashton's question.
Ashton stood silently for a moment.
"I don't know. Can you see us married?" Ashton asked. His heart was racing.
"I don't know either." Jack mumbled looking out at the garden.
Ashton didn't know what to say.
"Anyway, so that wine was good huh?" Jack asked with a smile as if the conversation moments ago didn't happen.
"Yeah. Really good." Alex answered.
Luke and Ashton stayed silent as Alex and Jack talked about the different wines.
Ashton hoped Jack wasn't planning on proposing. He wasn't ready for that. Especially since he had feelings for Luke and Alex and Jack were in love. There were too many secrets and lies for that kind of commitment.
