Ashton watched as Luke pulled a giddy looking Alex to the kitchen. Ashton felt a twinge of jealousy but he ignored it.

"There they are." Jack said suddenly going towards Alex and Luke.

Ashton followed behind trying not to smile.

"Jack, I have the best news." Alex exclaimed with a large grin.

"What?" Jack asked frowning.

Alex wrapped his arms around Luke from behind and rested his head on Luke's shoulder.

"Aww, you guys are so cute." Ashton smiled at Luke.

Jack stood stiff.

"Is something wrong Jack?" Ashton asked nudging his boyfriend.

"Not at all, love. I'm just surprised." Jack said wrapping an arm around Ashton.

"What are you doing?" Ashton frowned pulling away from Jack.

"What I can't put my arm around my sexy boyfriend?" Jack asked.

Ashton's frown deepened. Jack never called him cute names or called him sexy. And he definitely didn't do touchy feely in public.

"You don't do pda." Ashton reminded him.

"How much have you had?" Ashton asked inspecting the beer in Jack's hand.

"Jack, can I talk to you for a second?" Alex asked.

Alex lead Jack out the front door.

Luke and Ashton peered out the window.

"They seem to be arguing." Luke pointed out.

"Good, I hope he breaks Jack's heart." Ashton sneered.

"What? No, we want Jack to break up with you for him." Luke frowned.

"Well, yeah, but I hope Jack gets hurt in the process." Ashton explained.

"Oh here they come."

Luke and Ashton pretended to be mid conversation.

"So then he understood what I meant and here we are." Luke said as Alex and Jack approached.

"What are you guys talking about?" Alex asked wrapping his arms around Luke again.

"You told him Alex thought he was hot?" Jack snapped at Ashton.

"Yeah. Was I not supposed to say anything?" Ashton frowned looking at Alex.

"That wasn't your place." Jack growled.

"Jack, I told you, it's fine. It worked out." Alex smiled giving Luke a small squeeze.

"I think they're cute together." Ashton lied.

"Don't you?" Ashton asked innocently.

"Yeah, fucking adorable." Jack snapped.

"Come on, we're leaving." Jack growled grabbing Ashton's arm.

"Jack, come on, don't leave." Alex begged letting go of Luke and grabbing Jack's arm gently.

"Is there a problem? Do you like Alex or something?" Luke asked feigning ignorance.

"No, of course not. He's with Ashton." Alex answered not looking away from Jack's glare.

"Then why do you seem so pissed?" Ashton asked.

"He's just being big brotherly. You know how he can be." Alex said turning to Ashton.

"Come on, Ashton." Jack growled again pushing Ashton forward.

"See you guys later." Ashton waved as Jack continued to push him out the door.

-

Ashton sat silently on the couch as Jack played some video game Ashton wasn't interested in.

"So are you going to tell me why you're mad?" Ashton asked not looking up from his phone.

"I'm fine." Jack snapped.

"Clearly." Ashton rolled his eyes.

At that moment Jack's phone rang.

"It's Alex should I answer it?" Ashton asked picking up Jack's phone from the table.

"No, just let it go to voicemail." Jack shook his head as his game ended.

"You never miss Alex's calls. I'm answering." Ashton said pressing the green button before Jack could object.

"Hello?" Ashton answered.

"Oh, Ashton, hey, is Jack there?" Alex asked.

"Sure, he's right here." Ashton held the phone out to Jack.

"I told you let it go to voicemail." Jack growled as he snatched the phone from Ashton.

"Hey." Jack answered simply as he went to the bedroom and closed the door.

Ashton tip toed to the door and listened. Jack always put Alex on speaker so Ashton was able to hear both sides of the conversation.

"Why did you leave?" Alex asked.

"I didn't feel like sticking around to watch you hang all over that annoying blonde." Jack snapped.

"What so you can have a boyfriend and I can't?" Alex demanded.

"You know why I'm with Ashton. You actually like that guy." Jack huffed in annoyance.

"That guy is named Luke and yeah I do like him. But what do you expect me to do? Be your side dude my whole life?" Alex snapped.

"Alex, you know I love you." Jack sighed.

Ashton bit his lip. That hurt to hear.

"Yeah, that's why you were looking at engagement rings last week." Alex sneered into the phone.

Ashton felt his heart race and panic filled him.

"Look, babe, I'm sorry. My dad is pushing it. I've been dating Ashton for a year. He's impatient." Jack spoke in a sad tone.

"Exactly, Jack, a year. We've been doing this for a year. I love you Jack but I can't keep doing this." Alex's tone was now sad also.

Ashton frowned. He'd been with Alex their entire relationship? That angered Ashton.

"What can I do?" Jack asked.

"Break up with Ashton." Alex answered.

There was silence for a moment. Jack must have been considering it.

"Look, I know it's not easy and your dad said he's disown you and he'd give the business to your brother but is it really worth being stuck with Ashton forever?" Alex asked.

Again silence.

"Jack?"

"I don't know. I just need some time to think." Jack sighed.

"Right. Well I gotta go." Alex spoke shortly.

"Alex, wait....I love you." Jack said in a sad tone.

"Then prove it, Jack." With that the line went dead.

Ashton hurried back to the living room. He wasn't sure if he hated Alex or felt bad for him. Maybe a mixture of both.
