Ashton walked into the house praying it would be empty. He had managed to avoid Luke for two weeks. It hadn't been easy but he only had to see him once, at Jack's dad's funeral. He'd had a heart attack and didn't make it. That had been a week ago.
Ashton and Michael had grown close over the past two weeks and Michael had helped Ashton avoid Luke. That was until Michael and Ashton had gotten into a fight earlier that morning.
"Hey, Michael what does Luke have planned today?" Ashton asked grabbing an apple from the fruit bowl.
"I don't know." Michael sighed.
"Can you find out for me please?" Ashton asked taking a bite of his apple.
"Ashton, you can't keep avoiding him. It's been two weeks. He knows we're spending time together he's been asking why you're avoiding him. I can only lie so long." Michael huffed.
"You know I'm not ready to see him. He told me he loves me but he wants to be with Alex. That hurt." Ashton explained.
"I know, I get that but you have to face him. Tell him how you feel." Michael urged.
"He knows how I feel. He chose Alex. Nothing is going to change that. I can't just forget that." Ashton snapped.
"Well I'm not going to continue to help you run from your problems, Ash, it's time to face the truth." Michael sighed again.
"I can't bare it. I can't stand to see him with Alex. It hurts too much." Ashton felt his voice waiver a bit. He fought back tears.
"Ashton, he misses you." Michael said sympathetically.
"He what?" Ashton frowned.
"He misses you. He talked to me last night about how much he missed you being around. I know he loves you more than he loves Alex, you just have to give him a chance to realize it."
Ashton had thought about the prospect that Luke could love him more than he loved Alex but he didn't think it possible. Luke gave up on him long ago, he made sure if that.
Ashton sat down on the couch and pulled out his phone when he heard the door open. Fear gripped Ashton as he hoped it wasn't Luke.
"Oh, Ashton, hey." Alex spoke uncomfortably.
"What are you doing here?" Ashton demanded. That meant Luke wasn't far behind.
"Luke and I just got back from having dinner." Alex answered much to Ashton's dismay.
Just then Luke walked in behind Alex.
"Ash." Luke said surprised.
"Hey." Ashton answered quietly.
"I haven't seen you in a while." Luke frowned slightly.
"I've been busy." Ashton shrugged.
"Busy avoiding me." Luke crossed his arms.
"Can we not do this right now please?" Ashton sighed.
Before Luke could respond there was a knock on the door.
"I'll get that." Ashton said quickly.
He opened the door to see Jack.
"Ashton, hey I heard Alex was here." Jack shifted uncomfortably.
"Yeah, come on inside." Ashton sighed moving aside so Jack could come in.
"Jack, what are you doing here?" Alex frowned.
"I need to talk to you." Jack said shifting nervously.
"What's wrong?" Alex asked worriedly.
"Can we talk alone please?" Jack asked.
"Not gonna happen." Luke growled.
"Just tell me what's going on?" Alex asked.
"Fine." Jack snapped.
"Alex, I know this is probably not a good time but Luke never let's me see you alone and I can't wait any longer." Jack spoke walking towards Alex. He tossed a glare at Luke.
"With my dad gone and the business being transferred to me, I haven't had a chance to do this before now." Jack grabbed Alex's hands in his.
"I know you're with Luke and your happy and all I want is for you to be happy. But I have to tell you this...I love you, and I know you know that but I'm so in love with you. So much so that I've decided to put my heart on the line tonight."
Jack fished something out of his pocket and dropped to one knee.
"Alex will you marry me?"
