Forgot to mention it

It was early and Luke had gone for a walk to clear his head. He'd been trying to decide who he had stronger feelings for, Ashton or Alex.

"Luke, what's wrong? You're extra quiet this morning." Michael commented taking a seat at the table next to Luke.

"Nothing, just didn't sleep well. Luke answered. That wasn't entirely a lie.

"I know you better than that Luke." Michael rolled his eyes.

"Guys, guess who I just got off the phone with." Calum spoke excitedly.

"Who?" Michael asked.

"Ashton. He just needed some space. He's coming over for dinner later." Calum grinned widely.

"Oh, yeah, we saw him last night." Alex spoke up walking into the room.

"You did?" Calum frowned.

"Yeah, Zayn had a party last night. He's apparently dating Liam. Ashton lives with Liam now." Alex explained.

"Why didn't you tell us?" Michael asked looking at Luke.

"I forgot to mention it." Luke shrugged.

"You were upset cause he disappeared and you see him last night after a month and you 'forgot' to mention it?" Michael raised a brow at Luke.

"I just didn't think about it, what's the big deal?" Luke snapped.

"Wait, Ashton is living with Liam?" Calum frowned.

"Yeah, is that a problem?" Alex asked.

"More like awkward. After Ashton and Jack got together Liam admitted to having feelings for Ashton. It caused a big fight between them cause Liam got upset that he didn't break up with Jack for him. He started telling Ashton that Jack was an awful boyfriend and Jack told Ashton he couldn't see Liam anymore. I'm surprised he went to live with him." Calum frowned.

"When we talked last night he said he didn't have anywhere else to go where Jack couldn't find him." Luke shrugged.

"I'm gonna go call him back." Calum stood then and hurried from the room.

-

There was a knock on the door.

"I got it." Calum said rushing to the door. Ashton stepped in holding two large duffle bags.

Michael and Luke appeared behind Calum.

"Ash!" Calum gripped the honey haired blonde in a hug.

"Hey, Ashton." Michael smiled.

"Hey, you moving in?" Luke joked as he gestured to the bags. Suddenly the room went silent.

"Wait, you can't be serious." Luke frowned when realization hit him.

"Where is he gonna sleep? Why didn't you guys tell me?" Luke huffed.

"Michael and I cleared out the office, you don't use it anyway. We set up the spare futon. You were out with Alex and we forgot to mention it." Calum shrugged.

"You said, he was fine with it." Ashton said turning to Calum.

"He is. Aren't you?" Calum asked Luke who let out a sigh.

"Of course, I am." Luke smiled gently.

"Here, I'll take your bags." Michael said grabbing Ashton's bags.

"I'm off to pick up the pizza. Be back soon." Calum called as he walked out.

"Are you really okay with this?" Ashton asked.

"Yes, of course. I just wasn't expecting it." Luke spoke reassuringly.

"I fought it but, things have been tense with Liam and I." Ashton bit his lip a bit.

"Well I'm glad you agreed." Luke smiled putting a comforting hand on his back as he lead him down the hall.  Let's go see your room shall we?"

-

Ashton watched with a soft smile as Michael and Calum argued over the game they were playing.

"I'm telling you, that is the worst gun for sniping."

"Michael, it's got the best accuracy." Calum disagreed.

"But the damage is so low. You can't kill anyone with less than five shots." Michael huffed.

"They do this all the time. I tell them they act like a married couple." Luke laughed quietly.

"They are quite cute." Ashton smiled.

Luke admired Ashton's dimpled grin.

"What?" Ashton asked noticing Luke's stare.

"Just admiring your smile." Luke answered.

Ashton frowned.

"Crap, no that came out wrong. You just have a great smile. I mean, in a good way, I mean.... I'm not tryna- "

"Thank you." Ashton cut Luke off.

Luke let out a stressed sigh.

"I'm off to bed. Goodnight guys." Luke said standing.

"Night." Calum and Michael called in unison.

"Goodnight, Luke." Ashton gave a shy smile.

"Goodnight, Ash." Luke gave a small smile back before going to his room.

"When are you two gonna date?" Michael asked not looking away from the tv.

"Michael." Calum hissed.

"Oh, we're just friends." Ashton answered.

"Right, two friends who like each other." Michael snorted.

"Michael, I told you to behave." Calum scolded the blonde.

"What, I am behaving. They're clearly crazy about one another." Michael objected.

"Luke's with Alex." Ashton said biting his lip.

"Yeah, I don't get how that happened." Michael frowned.

"That's my fault. I knew Jack was cheating on me with Alex so I asked Luke to date him cause I knew Alex had a thing for him. I didn't expect it to backfire." Ashton sighed.

"Backfire?" Calum frowned turning to look at Ashton as the game ended.

"I mean, uh, cause it caused more problems between Jack and I." Ashton lied.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold on, back up. Jack cheated on you with Alex?" Michael frowned.

"Yeah." Ashton nodded.

"How long?" Michael asked.

"The entire time." Ashton answered sadly.

"What a fucking asshole." Calum snapped.

"And Alex knew you two were together?" Michael asked.

Ashton nodded.

"If he's cheating on Luke with Jack I swear I'm gonna-"

"He's not. That's what caused more issue between Jack and I. Alex has been great to Luke." Ashton interrupted quickly.

"You don't seem happy about that." Calum noted.

"I'm just not a huge fan of Alex." Ashton shifted uncomfortably.

"I can imagine." Michael agreed.

"Look, don't say anything to Luke. He really likes Alex." Ashton begged.

"We won't." Calum promised.

"He may like Alex but he's crazy about you." Michael said before standing up.

Ashton went to disagree but Michael walked out of the room.

Was Michael right? Ashton bit his lip at the thought that Luke truly did still have feelings for him.
