Michael

Luke and Calum walked in to find Ashton on the couch with Michael.

"Look at this one." Michael laughed as did Ashton.

Luke frowned at the sight of Ashton tucked under Michael's arm the two of them laughing at Michael's phone.

"What is this?" Luke asked waving a hand between the two.

"I've decided I'm going to protect Ashton. He's too good for all these assholes." Michael smiled gripping Ashton's shoulder tighter.

"Now I understand why Michael is your best friend." Ashton smiled up at the blonde.

"No dating." Luke demanded suddenly.

"Whoa, we're just friends." Michael laughed.

Ashton pulled away from Michael not amused in the slightest.

"I've had about enough of people telling me what to do. I'll date whoever I damn well please." Ashton snapped.

He went to stand when Michael pulled him back to him.

"You're not leaving. You're gonna ignore Luke and stay with me." Michael smiled wrapping his arms around Ashton.

Ashton giggled.

"Fine."

Luke clenched his jaw. What was going on between Michael and Ashton?

"Ashton can I please talk to you?" Luke asked with a sigh.

Ashton looked at Michael.

"Don't look at me, you do what you want." Michael winked.

Ashton grinned widely before standing up.

He followed Luke to his room.

"So you're into Michael now?" Luke asked jealousy.

"What does it matter?" Ashton asked with a huff.

"You are. Wow you move on fast." Luke sneered.

"Excuse you. First of all I'm not into Michael and second of all I don't see why you care either way." Ashton snapped.

"I care because if you dated Michael nothing could ever happen between you and I." Luke answered.

"Nothing could happen anyway, you're with Alex." Ashton seethed.

"I mean if he and I broke up." Luke clarified.

"So I'm a back up? You can't just put me on a shelf until your bored with Alex." Ashton snapped.

"Says the guy who said he'd be with me once Jack and you broke up. Instead you tried to make it work with him. I was just a pawn to you." Luke snapped back.

"I did break up with him. I needed time but you gave up on me for Alex. The guy that fucked my boyfriend behind my back for an entire year. Do you know how much that hurt?" Ashton asked trying to control his wavering voice.

"So what you're trying to get back at me by getting with Michael?" Luke scoffed.

"No, Michael was just being a good friend. Can I not be friends with him?" Ashton frowned crossing his arms.

"You were cuddled into him giggling at his phone. That seemed a little flirty to me." Luke said accusingly.

"So what, if we date, we date." Ashton snapped.

"If you date him, I can't date you, don't you get that?" Luke huffed.

"You and I will never date. You're in love with Alex." Ashton hissed bitterly.

"I'm also in love with you." Luke blurted.

Ashton stood silent for a moment.

"Shit, I shouldn't have told you that. I know you don't feel the same way but I couldn't handle to see you date my best friend." Luke ran his hand through his hair.

"You're really in love with me?" Ashton frowned.

"I have been since that day at the beach." Luke nodded.

"I'm not proud of it. And I knew you couldn't commit yourself to me after you and Jack split. You were too hurt and guarded. I thought I could get over you especially with Alex but I found myself wanting to be with you.
Then Brendon and you- and that video, I-" Luke dropped his eyes.

"Are you worried Alex will fall for him too?" Ashton asked.

"It scares me a bit, I won't lie." Luke answered honestly.

"You really do love him." Ashton sighed sadly.

"I do, yeah." Luke nodded.

Ashton nodded too.

"If you're happy then I'm happy for you. But I can't wait around to see if that happiness lasts. You understand right?" Ashton asked sadly.

Luke nodded.

"And I promise I won't date Michael." Ashton gave a small smile.

Luke returned it before Ashton walked out.
