Ashton sat on the park bench alone. It was late and Ashton needed air. He had agreed to go with Luke much to Jack's dismay. Ashton told Jack he needed time and that they could talk another day. Ashton regretted his decision though as Alex hadn't left Luke's side all night.
Ashton had managed to slip out for a bit. He needed to get away from Luke and Alex.
"Ash?" Luke's voice spoke causing Ashton to look up.
"What are you doing out here all alone?" Luke asked.
"I needed air." Ashton shrugged.
Luke took a seat next to Ashton.
"Why didn't you tell me about what happened between you and Jack earlier?" Luke asked.
"I don't know. I wanted to believe he cared about me but who am I kidding." Ashton sighed.
Luke didn't respond.
"So you and Alex." Ashton looked at Luke.
"What about us?" Luke asked knowing where this was going.
"Things are getting serious." Ashton responded simply.
"I-it's going really well." Luke shrugged.
"Do you like him?" Ashton asked.
"He's a great boyfriend I won't lie..." Luke trailed off.
"Do...do you...love him?" Ashton bit his lip waiting for Luke's answer.
"No... I'm trying to keep him at a distance but..." Luke sighed.
"But?" Ashton urged Luke to continue.
"I don't know how much longer I'll be able to do this. He deserves a real relationship." Luke sighed.
"You're gonna break up with him?" Ashton asked.
"No." Luke shook his head.
"I don't understand." Ashton frowned.
"I'm giving up on you." Luke answered quietly.
Ashton looked at Luke with a new pain in his eyes.
"W-why?" Ashton whispered?
"You are holding on so tightly to Jack." Luke answered.
"I can't help it, I just love him." Ashton spoke sadly as a few tears slipped from Ashton's eyes.
"But he's in love with Alex." Luke sighed.
"But Alex loves you." Ashton responded.
"And I love you." Luke said gently.
"Maybe none of us belong together? Maybe we're all wrong for each other." Ashton said sadly wiping away a tear.
"Do you even have feelings for me Ashton?" Luke asked with a heavy sigh?
"Yes." Ashton nodded.
"But you love Jack." Luke spoke sadly.
"I'm so sorry." Ashton bowed his head in shame.
"It's okay. I'm going to give Alex and I an honest effort then." Luke said his brow furrowed in pain.
"I'm so sorry, Luke, I just think maybe I need to be alone for a while." Ashton bit his lip.
Luke only nodded.

Ashton looked around the apartment. He had so many memories there, both good and bad.
He grabbed the last of the boxes and set his key on the counter with the letter he wrote to Jack.
"Jack,
I know this is not the best way to so this but I couldn't bear to do this in person, it would only hurt me more. I am sorry things had to end this way, I never intended for them to. However as much as I love you, I know you love Alex more. You can deny it all you want but I know about you two. I thought once he and Alex started dating you might actually return my feelings. Instead I got hurt again so, I'm giving up on you. Goodbye, Jack. Love, Ashton."
"You ready to go?" Liam asked standing in the door.
"Yeah." Ashton nodded wiping away tears.
Liam took the boxes from Ashton.
"I'll give you a minute." Liam said gently before walking out.
Ashton took a deep breath before walking to the door. He closed it behind him hoping he was making the right decision.
