Ch:7 First Day of Doom

Saturday, 15th of September, 1956

Sun shone brightly on Julia's bed.

She heard a soothing sound saying,"Wake up. Wake up. It's your first day of school."

Julia opened her eyes and saw it was Helen. Helen looked excited and happy for Julia.

"Good morning Ms.Julia. I hope you had a good night sleep because today is such an exciting day. Your uniform is on the couch. Get dressed and then come down to eat breakfast. You will need it for energy," said Helen and then she left the room.

Julia was shocked to see the excitement of Helen. She rose from her bed and went to see her uniform. It consisted of a white shirt, a blue jacket, a blue mini skirt and white high socks. Julia got dressed up and made her hair in a pony tail. She went to the dinning area where she found a cup of tea and perfectly toasted bread with strawberry jam.

"Oh my! You look so beautiful in your uniform. Hurry up and eat your breakfast so you won't be late on your first day," said Helen.

Julia eat her breakfast and thanked Helen for the sweet compliment. Before she left, Helen handed her backpack and lunch. James arrived at the gate of the house and waited for Julia.Julia rod in the car and then James drove off. Julia was worried and perplexed more than she ever was. When they arrived, there was a big sign that read

"Welcome to Mystic High School."

James parked in the parking lot and then Julia got out. Julia was well aware how high school was, it was her last year before graduation. Julia took a deep breath and then entered the school. Mystic High school was one of the well known schools across the country. It had the best education. Julia was roaming around the school, confused, anxious and don't know where to go. She eventually found her first class, which was geography with Mr.Shawn.

Mr.Shawn was a strict teacher whose objective was to make every student's life miserable. Julia reached the class just on time. Mr.Shawn entered the class with a scowl on his face as usual.

Once he noticed Julia, he called, "The new girl, why don't you come and introduce yourself to the class?"

Julia's face was filled with terror and fear. This was the last thing she wanted to do. With every step she took, she felt more and more dreadful.

"My name is Julia... Julia. I am from Wa.... Wales. My family and... I.. just moved in," said Julia as she battled to speak.

"Don't you know how to speak! You're worst than a kindergarten child,"yelled a person from back of the class to which everybody laughed.

Julia lowered her head and blushed with shame. "She speaks better than you do. At least she have a reason it's her first day. What's your excuse?"replied a girl to which everybody became silent.

Julia returned back to her seat.

"Thank you very much."

"No problem. He is just a bully don't care about what he says. My name is Melanie. What's yours?"

"My name is Julia. I truly appreciate what you have done for me."

The period was finally over. Julia once more didn't know where to go. Luckily, Melanie offered to help her. They shared few classes including, geography, history and math. At lunchtime, Melanie offered Julia to sit with her to which Julia gladly accepted.

"Tell me more about you Julia. Do you have any siblings?"

"Actually no. I am a lonely child."

"Lucky you. I have got two of those and they're awful."

Julia giggled at Melanie. She was so happy she met her. Otherwise this day would have turned into a nightmare. They ate their food and continued to their classes. Julia noticed that Melanie had long eyelashes which perfectly complimented her big brown eyes. Along with a long nose, brownish skin and thin lips.

Finally it was home time. Melanie and Julia both said farewell to each other and parted their ways. James was waiting for Julia on the front door. While on the car, Julia was thinking about Melanie and how delighted she was to meet her. How many people get to meet great people on their first day of school? That made Julia finally happy after a long misfortune. It was the first day of doom but Melanie just changed it into the first day of bloom.
