One hour, and many breaks, later we'd finally finished hanging up the last article of clothing and decorating the board next to my bed with pictures my mother had printed off a few days prior.

There was still no sign of my roommate even after my mother left with a painful goodbye and a promise to see me soon.

I lay on my newly made bed my phone in my hand playing an intense game of Crossy Road, since I had no actually friends back home or none that I want to associate myself with anymore.

It was at 7:30 when my roommate finally arrived, the door slamming open to reveal a redhead who was also slightly red in the face and looked as though she had been running.

Her eyes landed on me and her eyes widened, "Sorry I'm late my mother car broke down and we had to wait four damn hours for a truck to come."

I let out a soft chuckle, pulling myself slowly from my bed as I approached her.

"You know I'm not a teacher you don't need an excuse to show up late." She laughed lightly and nodded her head softly, "I'm Kai Herman." I said holding out my hand,

Gladly she took it in her own and shook it or I would've looked like an absolute fool.

"I'm Finley Monaghan."

I backed away giving her room to put away her luggage, I laughed to myself quietly so she couldn't hear. If me and her actually became good friends this would be something I would bring up non-stop.

The more clothes she put away the more bored I was becoming because Crossy Road was beginning to annoy me. How many times can you get hit by a raging bull before it gets annoying?

"What's your major?" I asked, deciding that small talk was better than sitting on my bed bored out of my mind all the while watching a redhead put away her luggage,

She turned looking at me with a look that almost made me regret asking it.

"I'm taking sociology." She replied hanging up yet another plain black shirt with a random band on it,

And just like that the room was silent, filled with a thick layer of tension that neither of us seemed able to break. I didn't know what to tell her because honestly I have zero clue what I'm taking yet, deciding to first get used to the whole college lifestyle before jumping into choosing a major that I may not even end up liking.

Honestly college wasn't my idea, it was my dads sick way of getting me to move out sooner so he could go back to being well - not so responsible. The only thing he had to do was put money into my bank account every month and pay off my college.

The bed dipped in front of me snapping me sharply out of my daze and there sat at the end of my bed was my roommate with wild, fiery red hair and a wide grin on her face.

"I'm done putting my things away and thought we should get to know each other." She shrugged no doubtedly seeing the confused expression plastered across my face the idea brought a less crazy smile to my lips as I nodded in agreement,

She readjusted her legs beneath her so she could get comfortable before returning her gaze to me.

"What are you majoring in?" She asked her head now resting in the palm of her hand as she leaned on her knee,

"I'm not really taking anything." I answered, knowing the conversation was going no where so I decided to elaborate more on the confusing statement I had just said, "I want to adjust to college first before settling on a major, but if I'm being honest it's just because I have no clue what the hell I want to do."

An almost incoherent laugh came from her as he ran her hand through her short hair, "It's okay, my boyfriends exactly the same. Been in college for three years and still doesn't know what he wants to do."

I laughed quietly to myself wondering how someone could possibly stay in college for so long before getting in trouble.

"Why's he still here?" I asked a laugh echoing from my mouth as I held a hand over my mouth to silence it as much as I could,

She shrugged her shoulders in response before answering, "He said he won't leave until his friends do, his friends are like two years younger than him and started one year ago."

Her attention finally snapped to me and she had a mischievous glint in her eyes, "What about you? Got a boyfriend back home?"

I shook my head softly telling her no. A sigh fell from her lips.

"You can meet my boyfriends friends they're pretty much the same age as you."

Her phone began ringing and she immediately picked it up pulling it to her ear.

"You want what? Babe I can't hear you get of your drums." Her voice was loud as she spoke and I could clearly hear the beat of a drum on the other end, "Okay I'll get it for you tomorrow."

She hung up and put her phone in front of her, running a hand over her face and through her hair she sighed.

"He's always on those god damn drums."
