"What do you think Luke would like?" Liz asks as her eyes scan over the wide array of muffins and cupcakes they sell,

I lean closer to the glass cover that protects them trying to get a better look at them, my eyebrows scrunch together as my eyes drift from one muffin to the other.

There are ones with sauce, ones with frosting, some with sprinkles and some just plain. I shrug my shoulders because honestly I have no idea what Luke would want, he likes cupcakes and muffins though only the plain ones because he thinks adding stuff ruins them.

I know he wouldn't want one with loads of sugar in it because Luke plus sugar is a recipe for disaster, now if it were Calum he would be buying most all of them because he doesn't care about the sugar content of anything.

Luke on the other hand is completely fussy and won't eat anything unless he knows what's in it, which I guess is why we're so alike. During Christmas dinner we were both asking what everything was and what it was made from, not because it was disgusting, believe me it was far from that, it was because I was genuinely so scared of eating it because I didn't know what it was.

My lack of Christmas celebrations back home may be to blame.

Usually I just ordered something for myself offline and waited for it to arrive on my doorstep just three working days later but this year I was invited to Luke's and honestly I can't find myself regretting it as my mind wanders over everything that's happened and I wonder if it will change anything between us.

I shake the thoughts of my head, focusing back on the muffins, my eyes set on one I think looks nice.

"That one." I say pointing towards a rather plain one, though it looks amazing so if Luke doesn't want it I'll definitely eat it,

Liz nods, calling a barista over so she can place the order while I pull out my phone and check my messages, none so far which kind of unnerves me slightly because usually Luke would've texted me around thirty times by now asking when I was coming back and asking what I was doing.

But today none, not one. No missed calls and no texts, which is very unusual for Luke.

I see Liz paying the cashier out of the corner of my eye so I slide my phone back into my pocket as I reach out to grab one of the bags, she mumbles out a thank you as we both leave the shop, the cold winter air nipping softly at my cheeks.

"Luke hasn't text me yet so I assume he's still asleep." I start as we near her black jeep, she turns to me her eyebrows slightly furrowed which makes sense since it is around 12PM, "I'll wake him up when we get in if you'd like."

"Yes please if you would." She says but almost unsurely, "Sorry I'm just a little confused, Luke's always been an early riser."

"I know, he's always awake before me, and I like to think I'm a morning person." I state, agreeing with her when we finally reach her car,

She opens it and I place the food by my feet and get in, sighing as the moderately warm air begins to heat up my otherwise freezing body, my joints begin to ache as the blood begins moving steadily past them again and I find myself groaning at the painful yet satisfying feeling.

Liz gets in beside me, making sure we both have our seat belts on before she pulls off.
