"Do you feel uncomfortable with me?"
Terry hesitantly asks once he and Credence settled down on the couch. Both having a hard time to understand each other's mind that at the time they both wish they could be a legilimen like Casey.
Credence shakes his head slightly before returning a curious glance towards Terry, only to meet the mesmerizing dark brown eyes. He quickly lowers his head, unable to match the steady gaze.
"Well I asked Casey to let me see you because I want to talk to you..."
Terry continues. He doesn't think he can keep up with the awkward situation any longer so he wanted to let out all his feelings right now.
Credence shifts his position a little. He feels rather anxious at the moment. What could Terry possibly wanted to talk about?
Will Terry ask him to stay away from Casey?
Or will Terry forcefully ask him to stay away from Casey?
Those are the only things linger in Credence's mind at the particular moment because what else would Terry want from him?
"Do you love her?"
Terry's sudden question quickly interrupts Credence's thought. He swallows hard before slowly lifted his head, meeting the curious eyes of the taller boy.
Credence squints his eyes a little, trying to find the right word to express his feelings but no words seems to get out of his mouth as Terry's existence in front of him is so intimidating.
So he nods a little. A small voice inside his head starts to insult his own vulnerability and inferiority in front of Terry.
"Do you think the Black family would accept you?"
Again Terry asks with a rather forceful manner. His eyes stares intensely towards Credence, casting a sense of pride and superiority.
Credence gulps again. He feels rather restless at the moment. His heart pleads for Casey to come back and save him right now. Credence shuts his eyes tight and unknowingly bites his lower lips before shakes his head slightly.
"So you do know about them? You know they won't accept you because you're not a pureblood. So why would you still risks such chance? You know there's no way for both of you to be together unless Casey's getting hurt in the process..."
At this, Credence is unable to control his emotion any longer. He glares towards Terry while a small lining of black smoke starts to get out of his hand. Terry that happen to notice this quickly shakes his head vigorously.
"No Credence... Listen... I'm not trying to part you from Casey... What I'm saying is the truth... Your relationship with Casey is so dangerous... It would end up by the both of you getting hurt..."
Credence inhales deeply while trying hard to maintain his composure. He tries hard to contain all his anger until the small lining of black smoke vanishes entirely. Somehow he wonders whether Terry had seen it or not.
Again, Credence bits his lower lips before returning to his usual self, a slight terror portrayed on his face.
"I know... I know we can't be together..."
Credence stated slowly. His right hand unknowingly going through his jett black hair, toussles it a bit in a manner that shows his helplessness.
"But I love her..."
Credence continues. He glances back towards Terry to see a rather perplexing emotion painted there.
"Will you protect her then? For anything that might happen in the future, will you protect Casey?"
Terry asks hesitantly. To be honest, his heart feels as if being shattered by uttering such words, but he still manages to maintain his steadiness, showing that he is serious about the matter.
Credence paused for a bit. Deep inside his heart he wonders whether he could. But before he could mutters any reply, Terry stops him.
"As far as I'm seeing it, it's the other way around Credence..."
Terry swallows hard. He runs his hand through his brunette hair, trying hard to express all his thoughts though it breaks him in the inside.
"What I'm trying to say is... If you really want to be with Casey... You have to prove it that you can protect her. You have to be ready because it's not going to be an easy job..."
Terry mutters his word in a careful manner, hoping that Credence would listen to it thoughtfully.
"I'm not saying all of this because I'm supporting the both of you... Truthfully I hated you. I hate the fact that she loves you..."
Again Terry gulps. Trying hard to conceal his feelings. Not once did he break the eyes contact.
"But as much as I hate it, I love Casey so much... And I know that the one she wants... is you..."
At this, Credence starts to blinks several times, trying to register what Terry is trying to convey.
"And in case you've been wondering... No... I'm not giving up on her. I will keep on trying to win her heart..."
Terry finishes with difficulties. A silver blade seems to rip his heart apart while he uttered those honest words. His eyes starts to sparkle with tears but he quickly look away, not wanting to show his weaker side in front of the shorter boy.
Credence nods once he understands the whole situation. So apparently, Terry isn't trying to break him and Casey apart. He is just trying to justify the whole situation. He's not supporting, but rather challenge Credence to be a better man for Casey.
Credence smiles unknowingly towards Terry, an honest smile that comes with gratitude and understanding.
"I'll protect Casey... I promise..."
