2 years later
Sabrina can't believe how much time has passed already. She is already ending her Sophomore year at college and these two years have been the most amazing years of her life yet. The hardest moments were her first few weeks as a freshman when she was really missing Florida. Eventually, with the help of a bunch of other kids that felt the same way, she grew accustomed to her new life.
Her roommate, Lexie, from freshmen year had become her closest friend. Their bond had grown so strong, they felt more like sisters. After leaving Florida, Sabrina was afraid she would never be able to find friends like the the ones she left behind but she did. While Lexie was no Zane or Heath, she was still an amazing friend.
Zane would message her once in awhile and they had video chatted a total of 4 times since she'd been in New York. And when she went home for thanksgiving she managed to see him for a total of 10 minutes after running into him at the grocery store.
Spending Christmas and New Year's in New York had become her family's new tradition. But for Spring Break and Summer vacation, Sabrina decided against going back home. Instead she went on cruises, vacationed in islands like Puerto Rico, and even flew to London.
She couldn't describe the joy she felt at this point in her life. And best of all, she was no longer hurting. Her first night in NY was the last time she heard from Heath. Every time she visited Florida, she subconsciously hoped she would bump into him but alas, she never did.
There were a couple of boys here and there that caught her interest that she went on dates with. But there weren't any guys she felt a connection with. Relationships were the last thing on her mind though. Right now her only worry was getting through finals.
Lexie and Sabrina rented out a room in the library for the night, to study. Sabrina was completely emerged in her sociology book when she heard Lexie giggling from across the table.
"What's so funny, Lex?"
"Do you have this app? It's called 'Vine' and people post 6 second videos." She said flashing the phone toward Sabrina.
"Nope, never heard of it." Sabrina shrugged. "Come on, Lex, we only have 2 days to crunch all this information into our minds."
"I know, I know. This is just so funny," Lexie said cracking up again.
That's how the rest of her week was spent. Studying, exams, studying, exams. Until finally it was Friday and Sabrina was free, until the fall.
"Taylor's frat house is going to be so packed tonight. I can't wait," Lexie exclaimed as she did her hair, sitting on the floor infront of the long mirror hanging from the door.
"I hope it doesn't get crazy like last time when that one guy tried to jump off the roof," Sabrina remembered.
"Most likely, you know how they get with that jungle juice," Out of nowhere again, Lexie burst out laughing. She threw herself backwards on the floor and Sabrina could see how red her face was turning from laughing to hard.
"What is so funny, baby?" Sabrina was slightly concerned but couldn't help but laugh.
"Patty just sent me the funniest vine. Look at this," Lexie passed the phone to Sabrina.
Sabrina held the phone and waited for the clip to start. It started off blurry with the image of a woman in a thong walking away and the pov putting on their glasses. Next the woman comes back in the room but turns out it was a man. The camera then shifts to the pov man screaming and the clip ends.
Sabrina holds still for a moment. The clip continuously playing but her face is emotionless as she continues to stare at the phone.
"Oh come on, S. That was hilarious, wasn't it?" Lexie asked but Sabrina didn't respond. "You ok, you look like you just saw a ghost."
That's what it felt like she saw. Two ghosts from her past she hadn't realized she was missing.
"I know them," Sabrina finally spoke handing the phone back to Lexie.
"Seriously, dude? They're hilarious. You've never mentioned them before."
"They're just some old friends," Sabrina responded wanting to change the subject. "Come on, let's finish getting ready."
So they did. Soon making their way to the last party of the semester. It was an amazing night, the grinding, the shouting, the drinking. It was euphoric and made Sabrina feel free. But maybe it was the alcohol mixing with old thoughts. At this very moment of drunkenness, there were only two people Sabrina wish she had next to her.
Zane & Heath
S: Are you guys too famous to talk to me now?
Z: BABY!!!!!?!!
Z: You watch our vines??!
S: I miss you
Z: I miss you too, Sab
Z: Please tell me you're coming home this summer?
It wasn't until the morning when she saw her phone that she immediately regretted creating that group chat. For one, the last time she spoke to Zane was when she promised they would video chat soon, sometime before spring break. Two, she had no idea she even added Heath until she realized he never responded. She could understand why after she left him on read for two years.
Unfortunately, the rest of the summer was tainted by everyone continuously talking about this app and "those two dudes with the wigs". It didn't anger her having to think about her friends, but more so made her sad because of how much she missed him. She was fine with missing Zane. But Heath, her supposed best friend who broke her heart and didn't bother saying goodbye when she moved, she didn't want to miss him.
This update came soon, and the next might come just as soon to get the story moving along. Thanks again for reading. Let me know in the comments what you like/ don't like or expect to happen. :D
