2 more years later
Talking to Zane always felt timeless. After sending that drunken text two years ago, Sabrina never responded or heard from Zane, nevertheless Heath. But summer before her senior year of college she went back home and ran into Zane. They picked up their friendship like nothing, joking and talking about life. They became closer and spoke more often.
Now here she was days away from graduation, finally completing these amazing four years. She hates to think of a time when she wondered whether moving to New York would be a bad thing because it was the best decision she ever made. Sure, she grew apart from a couple of people but was rewarded with finding other amazing. Of course, there was no way certain people could ever be replaced but that was the past.
"Baby, I'm so proud of you. Finally getting that degree, you've gone all professional on me," Zane joked through face time.
"Zane, stop," Sabrina appreciated the flattery. "But look at you, Mr. Vine. How many millions of followers is that now?"
"Well you know, the people they love me and my down ass bitch."
Zane avoided mentioning Heath at times hoping he wouldn't bring back bad memories for Sabrina. But since it was a subject that rarely came up, Sabrina didn't bother telling Zane that she was over it. The entire situation with Heath and prom had been forgotten. Or more like stored on a shelf in the back of her mind that she never reached for. Sure, there were times when she missed him but more like the way you miss your favorite, crazy aunt you only see for Christmas. Except, she didn't see him at all.
"I can't wait to be home for the summer though. I've missed it," Sabrina admitted.
"Ah, my baby's coming home!" Zane exclaimed. "We gonna do so many things together like go shopping, get our nails did. It's gonna be a full blown girls day." Zane puckered his lips.
"Ahh," Sabrina celebrated. She missed who she was with Zane and... "I have a surprise for you though,"
"Oh Sab, you really didn't have to get me anything."
"Well, not a gift. It's someone," Sabrina felt shy but excited.
"Baby, you really didn't have to find me a girlfriend. I mean yeah I'll get to know her and-" Zane was interrupted by Sabrina's laugh.
"Not a girlfriend silly. Actually, I have a boyfriend,"
Zane was silent for a moment but then his face lit up in curiosity. "Ok, ok, what's his name? His social security number? I'm gonna need his height and shoe size. I need to make sure he's just right for my baby."
His name is Ken, built body almost 6ft tall and abs Sabrina wish she could surf all day. She met him last fall and they had become inseparable. With a double major in business, he would become CFO at his father's company. Ken was the ideal man for any woman, with good looks and intelligence Sabrina had practically won the lottery with him.
"He sounds great," Zane's facial expression didn't really match his tone and Sabrina could tell he was annoyed a bit but she decided to ignore it.
The days passed by soon and finally it was Sabrina's day of graduation. Her parents and grandparents all attended showering her with hugs, praises, flowers and balloons. Her dorm was mostly all packed and in just one day she would be flying back to Florida. For once her summer was free of plans and she would get to enjoy it before starting her internship in August.
Ken's frat held the last party for the class of 2014. He would be flying out with Sabrina the next day and she couldn't wait to spend the next month showing him around Fort Lauderdale.
