"KARINA, GET DRESSED! We can't be late!"

The youngest Gutierrez groaned at the sound of her older brother's constant yelling. She had been laying in her bed, reading an abnormally large Stephen King novel called IT, all snug and cosy, not realising that today was the first day at the new school named Forks High School which the girl found so plain.

She lazily dragged herself off the comfort of her bed and did her usual morning routine, dressing into some suitable clothing that constantly changed depending on her mood. Her current mood was can't be asked. So she changed her lazy wear into a grey oversized sweater and skinny blue jeans.

Karina Gutierrez's style was usually very bright but felt it unsuitable for Fork's moody weather. As she trotted down the stairs to the kitchen, she thought about the dangers of entering another school but her brother always trusted her with her actions and never forced her to do anything she didn't want to so she shook the thought away and smiled as she saw Roman.

"There you are, come on," her brother smiled while grabbing his car keys.

"Roman, do you think I'm ready? I feel unsure and—"

"Rina, you'll be fine, I promise. We've done this many times. Just stay by me, okay?" He assured as Karina nodded hesitantly.

With an unnerving feeling in her gut rising, she followed her brother. Once they arrived at the car park of miserable Forks High School, the siblings stepped out, attracting the attention of most, of not all, the students who admired the beauty of the newcomers. It was perhaps the next big thing to arrive in Forks ever since the Cullens and Hales.

A sudden sweet aroma filled Karina's nose, her nose inhaling slowly, savouring it as if it were a drug. Her red eyes scanned her surroundings, trying desperately to find where the scent came from and that's when she locked eyes onto another pair.

Her eyes latched onto fierce golden—amber eyes, a figure with tight curly honey—blond hair fitted perfectly in an upright position and ghostly pale skin. Karina thought he was immensely handsome, stunning even, looking like he was picked out of a high brand magazine.

"What is it, Karina?" Roman asked, looking towards the blond who was soon joined by three others, also pale but absolutely mesmerising that they couldn't turn away. "Ah, halfies." Halfies were Roman's nicknames for vampires who had been turned — a joke.

A petite girl with pixie—styled hair jumped elegantly and so lightly by the blond's side with a massive smile. A muscular guy slid his buffed up arm around another light blonde with a cold vibe though with a face of a Greek goddess though Karina's focus was purely on the one looking at her and Roman's was on the girl with the fairylike appearance.
