Some time went by with Gon and Killua still in their embrace. Killua had rested his chin on Gon's head, waiting for him to calm down while rubbing his back.

Not too long after, Gon had finally recovered. He slowly pulled away and placed his hands on Killua's shoulders.

"We should get going now, I've held us up for long enough, I'm sorry." Gon said, wiping the rest of his tears.

Killua smiled warmly, shaking his head. "Don't worry about it, I'm glad we got the issue resolved."

They two boys had moved out the building now, heading to where most of the action was taking place.

It seemed like the chimera soldiers were losing still, but help was needed for the soldiers on their side.

Gon and Killua had crouched behind an abandoned tank, looking for any sign of other soldiers.

They saw one chimera solider coming their way, not knowing they were there.

"Gon! Killua!" They heard a distant voice shout, seeming to be coming closer. It was Pokkle from their squad. He was running to them in the open, from a different direction.

He didn't seem to notice the chimera solider only a few feet away, taking out his gun and shooting Pokkle in the chest.

Pokkle collapsed in plain sight, still slightly moving.

Gon didn't take a moments hesitation to dash out in the middle of the battlefield to help his fallen comrade.

"GON ARE YOU INSANE!?" Killua shouted from the sidelines, still behind the tank.
Gon was silent, trying to locate and clean Pokkle's wound.

The chimera solider noticed Gon and readied his gun. Killua quickly took his gun out as well, but in the blink of an eye, the chimera solider collapsed on the ground, a gun shot coming from behind them in the distance.

Killua looked up, spotting Kurapika in a tall building. He made a mental note to say thanks to him later, but quickly ran to Gon's side.

Gon sat silently, and Pokkle was gray and limp. Killua noticed this, and assumed it was too late for Pokkle, and he had died from a direct hit to the heart.

The tears rushed to Gon's eyes again, letting the overwhelming despair take over.
Kurapika walked over to them as well, seeing Pokkle's corpse.

"What a damn shame...I really didn't want one of our team members dying." He rubbed Gon's shoulder, but Gon shrugged it off. The blonde stared apologetically at the boy then turned to Killua. "Metero City has been won back, we can go back to base for now; I'll be waiting at the truck." He took his leave, leaving Gon and Killua with Pokkle's corpse.

The pale boy didn't really know what to say to Gon at the moment, he didn't have experience with this type of thing.

It didn't seem like Gon was going to budge though, so Killua scooped him into his arms. Gon didn't resist, nor look angry. He just looked sad; broken.

This saddened Killua greatly, he didn't like seeing his best friend this way, but one of their squad mates just passed, and Gon didn't seem to have a strong skin with this kind of stuff. So all Killua could do was hold Gon close and carry him back to the trucks, hoping he'd start feeling better soon.
