Clearing his throat, Gon began to tell the tale of his past.
"My dad left me with my Aunt Mito and Grandma when I was very young so he could join the war. I suppose he was pretty passionate about being a solider or something, making it more important than looking after his own kid!" Beaming with pride, Gon smiled down at Killua who gave him a small smile back, but still felt sorry for Gon because of the absence of his father his whole life.
Although Gon didn't seem bothered by that fact and continued on. "Later on I found out that my dad was deemed missing in action. Aunt Mito told me he was most likely dead, but I refuse to believe that until I find out for myself. So I started training from that point on to become stronger! I eventually got so impatient that I begged the army to let me join at the age of 15; I wanted to start looking for my dad right away, not to mention be a useful contribution to the war."
Taking in Gon's words for a moment, Killua decided to speak. "Ya know you're actually pretty amazing." Killua admitted, surprising Gon.
"You actually want to be here, meanwhile everyone wouldn't take a moments hesitation to go home if they could. You may be a stubborn, embarrassing idiot but I'm glad we're friends......thanks, for letting me be your friend I mean."
Gon was astonished by what Killua truly thought of him and grinned, throwing his arms around his best friend in a bear hug. "Killuaaaaaaaa you're so sweet! I'm so glad I met you! I have another purpose now, besides for finding my dad."
Blushing bright red, Killua tried to keep cool. ".....Oh yeah? What's your new purpose?" He asked.
"To protect you of course! I won't lose you Killua, not now and not ever."
The cerulean eyed male didn't know to react to this type of thing. His heart was moving erratically and his hands had become sweaty. Gon was making him feel some sort of way that he couldn't quite comprehend.
"Tch.....If anything, I should be the one protecting you; I'm the elite solider here." Killua stated, hiding his nervousness. "Then let's play Rock Paper Scissors! If I win, then I get to protect you; if you win, then you get to protect me." Gon suggested.
"Seriously? You can be such a child sometimes." Killua said, crossing his arms.
The black haired male only pouted, staring at Killua with puppy dog eyes. "Come onnnnnnnn, it's only fair." Gon whined, clasping his hands together and getting on his knees to beg.
Killua tried staying serious, but soon gave in. Gon was just too adorable to turn down.
"Rock paper scissors shoot!" The boys shouted in unison.
Gon had thrown out rock while Killua had thrown scissors, making Gon the victor.
"What?! This game is rigged!" Killua pouted as he crossed his arms again. Gon giggled and booped Killua on the nose, loving how he'd get all flustered because of it. "I've noticed that a lot of people have a habit of throwing scissors first. So I usually start with rock!"
"......good observation I guess." Killua mumbled, though Gon still heard it.
Some time went by as the boys sat in a comfortable silence, staring up at the sky.
It was reaching evening now, the sun starting to set. Killua suddenly had an idea in mind and jumped up, pulling Gon up as well.
He then ran back in the direction of the base, tugging Gon along with him.
"Where are we going so suddenly?!" Gon asked, confused.
A smirk made its way to Killua's face as he continued pulling Gon along. "I had a fun idea of something we could do."
Still slightly confused, Gon tilted his head to the side. "What are we doing then exactly?"
Upon arriving at the base, Killua slowed his running. "Have you ever flown in a jet before?"
"I wish!" Gon exclaimed.
"Well today's your lucky day."
