In storage Gon went to gather his supplies. He grabbed bandages, morphine, and other medical supplies, loading it into his bag. Then he picked up a .44 magnum revolver, placing it in his pocket since it was a small enough gun.
On his way out he saw Killua entering the storage area. They made eye contact for a second, but Killua quickly turned away and walked off to get his own supplies. Gon wanted to talk to Killua but now wasn't the time. They had their first mission and that was important.
So Gon fled the storage area and headed to the military trucks so they could drive off to Meteor City. He took a seat next to Kurapika and once everyone was on they headed off.
Gon started feeling extremely nervous all of a sudden. He realized he's never actually been in a war before and didn't really know what to expect.
Killua hadn't been in a real war before either, but his parents trained him with simulations of a battlefield. He had gotten surprisingly good at taking on a war setting and didn't really feel nervous about where they were headed.
His gaze had settled on Gon who was looking extremely distressed. He so desperately wanted to try to comfort him, even if he wasn't really sure how to do so, seeing as he's never had a friend before, but he wanted to do something to help. Still, he couldn't do such a thing, he couldn't be close with Gon or anyone anymore.
When the truck came to a stop, Killua was the first to hop off; the rest of the team hopped off soon after. Killua put his pistol in the holster on his pants and held his M14 in his hands.
The Battlefield was up ahead, a few other teams were already in Meteor City fighting.
Kurapika stepped up and stood in front of his team. "Alright guys we better head in so we can contribute. Remember to take cover and always be aware of your surroundings; I don't want any of you dying today."
Everyone nodded and ran off towards the city. Some dead bodies already scattered the ground from both sides.
Killua was currently taking cover behind a pile of rubble, shooting his electric bullets at the chimera soldiers whenever he had an opening.
Even though Kurapika was the sniper of the team, Killua had excellent eyesight and could shoot pretty long range without a scope.
He saw soldiers from his side being killed all around him, but he wasn't very phased by this. He didn't even know them anyway, in reality they were just strangers fighting on the same side.
It did occur to Killua that he hadn't seen Gon since they got off of the truck; he wondered if he was okay or not. He saw the other medics trying to help injured soldiers, but he didn't see Gon.
Killua started to wonder if Gon was already dead, or just in another part of the city. He even started wondering if he should go look for him because at this point Killua didn't care much for what his brother said, but at the same time his brother was still right.
These thoughts were greatly distracting Killua; he almost forgot where he was, but when he snapped back to reality, he was being shot in
the shoulder.
Killua didn't know who had shot him, so he assumed it was a sniper, but whoever it was had knocked him into plain sight.
He clutched his shoulder and told himself to get up and run, but his legs wouldn't move.
Killua couldn't be scared; he was never scared, but it seemed like at this moment fear was paralyzingly him, leaving him out in the open.
