It seemed that Gon had fallen asleep in Killua's arms. The white haired boy held Gon protectively, as a mother would hold her child. He had one arm around Gon's waist and the other holding his head.
For a kid who hadn't grown up with any physical contact or friends he seemed to be handling this well.
Their other squad mates gave them weird stares, in which Killua returned with a deathly gaze, making them instantly look away. He didn't want Gon to feel worse than he already did, even if he was asleep at the moment. The poor boy had probably one of the most traumatizing days in his young life and Killua would have to treat him with care once he awoke.
Once the truck stopped back at base, Killua waited until everyone got off before lifting Gon in his arms and getting off himself.
"I can take him to the barracks for you, it's better if you head straight to your room." Kurapika said, reaching for the unconscious boy.
This caused Killua to become extremely defensive and he tucked Gon closer into his chest, turning away from Kurapika; although the blonde couldn't see it, but Killua held a menacing glare. "No.....It's fine I can handle it, you should meet up with the higher ups."
Kurapika noticed the sudden hostility and backed off, nodding before heading inside.
Killua stared down at the sleeping Gon and sighed to himself, wondering how this boy was able to sleep through the things he just experienced.
The walk to the barracks was quiet and gloomy. Everyone seemed dim; Gon wasn't in commission to bring his light to the dark atmosphere right now.
Setting Gon on his bed, Killua had the sudden urge to take the boy to his own room instead of leaving him here with all the other men, but he figured it might weird Gon out if he suddenly woke up in Killua's bed, so he decided to deal with it and let him be.
Killua walked back to his room and sat on a chair, intending not to sleep that night, not that he did very often, but too many things went on that day and Killua wanted to think it over. Although, he wasn't able to dwell in his thoughts for too long, because he heard his door creak open.
Gon scurried inside and stood at the doors entrance, keeping his gaze at the floor.
"Yo Gon, are you alright..?" Killua asked with genuine concern.
The tan boy shook his head, still averting his gaze. "I woke up and you weren't there....It kinda upset me you know.." A pink hue appeared onto Killua's face, and he looked away.
"Idiot that's so embarrassing! But....I won't leave you again if that's what you want.." Killua lifted his head, forming a small smile.
Gon held a small smile as well, but it still held sadness. "I'd like that...but can I sleep with you tonight? I keep having bad thoughts and I don't know how much I can handle, ya know?" His smile was so big now, yet the tears rolling down his face revealed his true emotions.
Killua's heart shattered; he was trying so hard to act okay when he really wasn't.
"Tch..... dummy....don't act like everything's fine, just show me how you really feel."
This seemed to get to Gon; his smile had vanished and all that was left were the tears.
Killua pulled him into his small bed, scooting over so there was enough room for them both. He laid Gon down facing away from him, and wrapped his arms around the boys waist as he laid down as well. The caramel eyed boy seemed to settle down a bit at this, his face becoming red, but Killua didn't know that.
"You know Gon, you can be a real cry baby. I think that's the third time you've cried today." Killua smirked as he pressed his head into Gon's back, trying to lighten the mood.
"I am not a cry baby! This is all just new to me....But.....Thank you Killua, for staying by my side..."
This caught Killua off guard; he began to think about how he should be the one thanking Gon, for allowing him the honor of being a friend to someone so bright.
Even though Gon was half asleep, he still heard Killua's words before he became completely knocked out.
"No I should be thanking you, my dearest friend."
A smile made a way to Gon's face as he succumbed to the exhaustion, but he was still happy nevertheless.
