When Gon awoke at 5 a.m. he stretched his arms and lazily sat in bed, rubbing his half opened eyes.
Then the realization hit him and his eyes widened; he was in Killua's bed. A red blush settled into his face as he remembered last nights events, thinking of how odd their relationship seemed; they were definitely closer than just friends.
The tan male turned his head to find Killua sleeping soundly next to him, looking more innocent and vulnerable in his sleep. This was the first time Gon was realizing how angelic he actually looked.
His messy white hair that would still somehow looked amazing; that porcelain, pale skin that seemed delicate to the touch and those sharp, blue eyes that reminded him of the ocean.
The definition of perfection, even with the mechanic arm that Gon still hadn't know how his friend got.
Yet his attitude was a bit more stern and cold at times. Although he really only showed Gon friendliness and warmth.
Still Gon couldn't help but feel like there was something more between them than just friendship; they even slept together for Pete sake. Though he decided to think about it another time for he had training to get to.
Since Killua looked so peaceful in his sleep, Gon didn't want to wake him.
There was a pencil and a notepad on a table next to Killua's bed, so Gon wrote a note to leave him for when he woke up.
Dear Killua,
I wanted to stay and wait for you to wake up but I need to start training early and you also looked really cute in your sleep so I didn't want to wake you. I'll tell Kurapika where you are so don't worry about that; I just need to get stronger to be able to protect you!
Yours truly,
Gon
Once Gon was satisfied with his letter, he ran out of Killua's room and down the hall to get his uniform on to begin training.
It was surprisingly decent weather today. Since the base is in a desert it's normally really hot out, but today felt just right. This brought a smile to Gon's face as he inhaled the fresh air.
Soon he was greeted by Kurapika and the rest of his squad who were already training.
Kurapika noticed Killua's absence and asked about it. "Where's Killua? He's always here for training, even though he hates everyone."
After picking up his gun, Gon looked at the gray eyed male. "He's sleeping, I figured I wouldn't wake him; he barely sleeps as it is." He stated. "But I want to train to get stronger; we may have won the battle in Meteor City, but I know for sure I didn't do my best."
Kurapika noticed the newfound determination in Gon's eyes, and Gon felt more determined than ever.
Pokkle's death was hard on the spiky haired boy, but he eventually was able to calm down thanks to Killua's help and also knowing he wasn't close to Pokkle in the first place.
If it was Killua or someone he was more close to in danger though, Gon wanted to save them and not make the same mistake twice.
"Alright Gon, I've been observing you in training for some time; it seems you do better when it's hand to hand combat correct?" Kurapika asked.
"Yes! It's my greatest strength. I'm not very good at using a gun hehe." Gon sheepishly said as he rubbed the back of his head.
It took a moment for Kurapika to think of what he could have Gon do, but he finally came up with a plan. "Oh I know! Hear me out Gon, I know its very useful to be able to use a gun on the battlefield but, why don't we just enhance your speed and strength. This way you can dodge bullets and get close enough to the enemy to knock them out with physical blows."
"Isn't that impossible? Bullets are really fast you know! What if I mess up and get hit? Or something goes wrong!?" Steam started to erupt from Gon's ears and Kurapika placed his hands on the younger boys shoulders to calm him.
"You are no ordinary kid, I believe you can do it." A small smiled formed on Kurpika's face as Gon finally settled down and formed a smile of his own.
"Well...... I suppose you're right. Thank you for believing in me, now let's get started!"
"Right!"
