I walked into the final room. Before me was the Champion's Arena. A tiled room with a battlefield in the center. Yellow sat at the other end at the foot of a throne. There was a display on the left side of the room that would keep track of our Pokémon. The battle was likely being broadcast to the entire region at this point.
"Well if it isn't Red!" Yellow perked up. "I'm glad you made it to me! I'm rarin' to go! It's time for my first fight as a Champion! You may've beaten me back in Celadon, but my team are gonna go all out!" The girl took a Poké Ball from her belt and she got to her feet.
A full battle. Six on four. It was time for me to use everything I had to get through the first.
I sent Squirtle out, while Yellow called out a Ninetales. The golden fox towered over Squirtle, but he didn't back down. Ninetales flicked her several tails while waiting for Yellow to give a command. "Let's start off with Sunny Day!" Her Pokémon launched a ball of fire into the air, it remained in the air and sent off immense amounts of heat.
I'd dealt with this before. Here we go Squirtle! Use Hydro Pump on the sun! Squirtle looked up at the fireball and unleashed a torrent of water. "Counter with Flamethrower!" Ninetales blasted flames from her mouth. The sun intensified its power, allowing it to counter Squirtle's Hydro Pump.
"You've got some tricks Red, but so do I. Ninetales use solar beam!" Squirtle, get out of there! Ninetales quickly prepared and then fired a massive beam across the battlefield. The attack rocketed towards Squirtle.
The tiny turtle Pokémon jumped to the side, getting clipped by the move. Move in and use Ice Beam on the ground! Squirtle coated the battlefield in ice as he ran forward. Sliding Skull Bash! The sun was already starting to melt the ice. Squirtle tucked his head into his shell and started to slide across the slick ground.
Ninetales's trainer narrowed her eyes. "Use Solar Beam again!" I took a deep breath. Use Ice Beam on your body! Squirtle lunged forward as Ninetales prepared the attack. He coated himself in ice while the fox unleashed a beam of green light. The ice around Squirtle's body shielded him, which let him get in close.
The tiny turtle Pokémon rammed directly into Ninetales, forcing her back. Now use Hydro Pump on the sun! Squirtle turned around and fired a spray of water into the ball. It burst into a cloud of steam, covering the battlefield. End this, use Hydro Pump on Ninetales!
"Ninetales... oh... " Yellow was getting flustered, scanning the battlefield for her Pokémon . Meanwhile, Squirtle unleashed another flood of water. The water washed over Ninetales. She tumbled over, defeated.
Yellow sighed. "Guess that's one down then, huh. Let's see what else you've got!" The girl then sent out a red Pokémon with a large mushroom on its back. A Parasect. I decided to bring Squirtle back and called in Charizard.
Charizard took flight and soared in the air above her Pokémon. Let's go! Use Fire Blast! Charizard dove forward and opened his maw. A massive fireball was launched at the opposing Pokémon. "Use Protect!" Parasect conjured a shield in front of his body that absorbed the flames. "Use Spore!"
Parasect unleashed a series of green particles that fell onto Charizard. The lizard's eyes shut, and he fell onto the ground. "Now, use Swords Dance!" Charizard! Wake up! Parasect started to sharpen his claws while my Pokémon took a nap on the ground.
"X-Scissor!" Parasect swung his claws into Charizard over and over. The blows weren't doing much, but my Pokémon was fast asleep. Come up Charizard! Don't let this pesky Pokémon beat you! My voice seemed to finally reach my Pokémon, and his eyes snapped open. Slash!
