Alaina P.O.V

It's only been an hour and as I sit at the table, eating dinner with Ace, Landon, and Alette, I feel my mate's eyes on me. It makes it hard to concentrate. Why can't he just stop staring at me?

*I just can't help it, love.*

Without looking at him, I can tell he has a smirk on his face and I resist the urge to roll my eyes. I plan on telling Alette about the game I'm playing with Ace. Hopefully, she'll know what to do.

*You won't win even with Alette's help.*

I also plan on asking Alette how to keep Ace out of my head.

*Now, why would you want me out of your head?*

For that very reason. Ace can hear every single one of my thoughts if he chooses to. I have no privacy. It's not like I'm hiding anything from him but I still don't like it. Imagine if someone was able to hear your every thought. From if you have to use the bathroom to who you find attractive. I've been trying to keep my thoughts restricted but come on, they're my thoughts.

As soon as we finish eating, Alette and I go outside. We told our mates that we were going for a walk but Ace knows better. Then again, it's not really a lie. We are going on a walk but we really just needed an excuse to talk alone.

''Okay, spill.''

''Well, Ace and I are... playing a game?'' It comes out sounding like a question as I'm unsure of what exactly to call it.

''What game?''

I blush as I tell her the rules. As soon as I started, a goofy grin appeared on her face.

''I need your help if I'm going to win,'' I finish.

Alette snorts, ''You really don't. Men are sex-obsessed weirdos, the ones I know are anyway, but then again, they love to win.''

''Uh huh.''

''Teasing always works. We're going to have a bonfire tonight just me, you, Landon, Quentin, and Ace. It's a tradition that we do once a month. I'll help you get ready.''

I smile, ''That sounds fun, thanks.''

She nods when suddenly her eyes fog over. After a second, they return to normal but they have a certain sparkle that wasn't there before, ''Quentin found his mate! We have to go back, come on!''

Alette drags me by my hand as we run back towards the pack house like giddy children. We burst through the door and Alette calls out, ''I need to meet her now!"

Soon, Quentin and his mate come out. His mate is absolutely gorgeous. her fiery red hair brings out her sharp yet delicate emerald green eyes. Freckles dot her slightly pale skin and her movements are swift and fragile. She appears quite small but she looks like she could kick some serious a*s if she had to. I notice that she fidgets with her hands nervously.

''Alette, Alaina, meet my mate, Maya,'' Quentin has a gigantic smile on his face. I can't blame him, they look great together.

Alette rushes forward and hugs Maya tightly. She looks shocked for a moment but then smiles. Alette pulls away and looks Quentin straight in the eyes, ''Treat her right.''

''I know.''

''How did you find her?''

''A meeting with the Silver Thunder pack, she is the Beta's daughter.''

''Well, it's great timing! Since the bonfire is tonight and all.''

''Maya, I'll show you your room unless you're comfortable with sleeping with Quentin right away.''
