Chapter 46
Cruel

I slowly opened the door to go inside the room.

"I'm sorry, Blair." she apologized to me and I don't even know what that apology is for.

"Mom, why are you apologizing?" tanong ko naman at agad na lumapit sa kaniya.

"Instead of giving you a complete family for your graduation, mas lalo ko pang nasira ang pamilya natin." she said.

"Mom, it's not your fault. You don't have to apologize dahil hindi mo naman kasalanan yun." sabi ko. "You're not the one who cheated, Mom. You've been a faithful wife to your husband."

"I guess being faithful isn't enough to make a relationship last." mapait na ngumiti si Mommy.

She raised her left hand and looked at their wedding ring above their engagement ring. Mom's always wearing both.

"I can't believe that the twenty eight years of being with him since we were teens will come to an end like this." she said and another tear fell. "I've always dreamed of spending forever with your Dad, Blair. Even though we're already married, I still dream for it to happen. But not all dreams do come true in reality. Sometimes, reality gives us nightmares instead."

"Are you sure about ending things with Dad, Mom?" nag-aalangan kong tanong.

"You know I love your Dad so much that I'm willing to give him another chance, but..." Mom trailed and sighed before she continued. "It will not be the same anymore, Blair."

Hearing her answer, I know that Mom already decided and she's determined to end things with Dad.

"The trust I gave him is already broken. "I can't be with a man whom I do not trust. It will only wreck our family and our relationship more.

I understand Mom's reason. I totally understand and respect her reason.

She's right. You shouldn't tie yourself with someone whom you don't fully trust.

"You said earlier that you've seen your Dad with his mistress." bigla namang sabi ni Mommy.

My eyes slightly widened. Nervousness crept into my body. I already know the question that she's going to ask.

"What is she like? Do you know her?" she curiously asked me.

"Mom, I don't think that you should know about Dad's mistress." sabi ko naman.

There's something inside me that's preventing me from telling Mom the truth—that my lover's mother is my Dad's mistress.

"I want to know what kind of woman she is. I want to know her." she said.

Of course, she's a woman that's a certified homewrecker. She almost wrecked a family before and now she successfully wrecked ours. It looks like she already succeeded taking lessons on how to wreck a family that's why she succeeded this time.
