Who Even Has a Basement Anymore?!

I pushed my hair into a pony tail with my breath coming out in quick, sharp blasts. I heard the pounding foot steps and laughter behind me as I sprinted down the street.

"Hey, watch it!" Someone yelled as I slipped by.

"Sorry!" I yelled over my shoulder, only to slip on something and knock over some paint cans. A bright blue and white splashed across my entire left side of my black outfit. I smiled faintly and jumped to my feet to keep running. I had never been a fan of my plain black quarter sleeve, stretchy skirt, and leggings. Now they finally had some character.

Someone grabbed my arm and threw me into an alley, only for me to slip in the mud and slide toward the wall. I cursed in Latin and turned toward my chasers.

"Seriously? Well, I guess I can thank you for my wardrobe change, Jeremy." I said with a smirk.

"Shut up Alex! You know why were here- so quite playing stupid." Jeremy snapped back. I blew a raspberry at him and reached for my pocket knife. I wasn't going to stab them, so don't worry. I don't even think I could, but I can be pretty threatening. I heard a buzzing sound to my right and found a glass basement window with sun light peering through. I quickly realized my mistake and whipped my head around to find one of Jeremy's friends running toward me with his fist raised. I tried to raised my hands in defense, but I was too late. The first made contact with my jaw and I stumbled backwards, only to spit blood on the floor.

"I'm a softball catcher you idiot, pain doesn't affect me as sharply." I said in annoyance. That was kind of true, as a catcher behind the plate, the gear only does so much; you have to learn to toughen up.

The boys growled and rushed forward and I aimed a fist towards Jeremy's face. He stumbled back in surprise and the kids pushed me a little too forcefully backwards. My foot rolled out and I smashed into the window I had noticed a few moments before. The sound of glass shattering filled the air as well as... a swarm of hornets? My back made contact with some metal gadget and a table and I heard a gasp of surprise from behind. I turned to find a boy from my school staring at me shock. I heard the sound of retreating footsteps in the alley- the stupid bullies didn't want to get caught. Cowards. I turned my head to the boy sitting a few feet away from a computer in a comfy looking office chair- a frozen form of an old video game sat staring toward a fist and, blocky village. Was that Minecraft?

"Tommy?" I asked in confusion, and then an electric shock hit me from behind. I heard Tommy yell my name and the world began to spin. I felt burning hot and freezing cold at the same time- what was happening? The last thing I heard before I passed out was the sounds of chickens, cows and pigs... Wait, what?
