My Dad stood across the yard with his glove in his hand with a large, excited smile that lit my up inside plastered across his face.
"OK kiddo, gimme the heat!" He said, holding up his baseball glove. I smiled and reared back my hand and threw with all my might forward, only for it to jam into the grass because I let go too late. I threw my glove in frustration and felt tears well up- I would never be good at anything! Why was I even trying?!
"Oh come now Alex, that's not how we do things!" My Dad said, putting his hand on my shoulder. "I know you want to give up and never play again, but challenges are what make life fun and thrilling!" He said with a smile, handing me my glove and baseball. "Try just one more time?" He pleaded.
I sighed and took the ball and took careful aim at his glove, reared my hand back, and threw. It whished through the air and made a popping noise when it hit his glove. Pride in his expression had me smile as it lit up my world.
"If at first you don't succeed, try, try again." He said.
My eyes snapped open and I sat straight up with a gasp. A memory flash back. Again. Why Did I keep having these? I sat up and found myself in a small, three by three box made of obsidian with metal bars on one side. I took a step forward and something squealed under my foot. I jumped back and found Carrot on the floor.
"Stupid pig! You deserve this- why in Minecraft would you want to be loyal to me?!" I hissed. I only just realized my pig was a baby pig- if I was responsible for this creatures death, it would be like throwing a baby off a cliff. Stupid responsibility.
The pig quickly ran behind me and hid as footsteps grew closer to my prison. I glared and found a username 'NightmareGamer' staring at me in the face.
"Hello NightNinjaPlayz, long time no see, eh?" She said with a smirk. Her friends could be seen surrounding her- all six stood before me.
I guess the other hackers had respawned.
Lucky us.
"Let me go." I growled, banging on the metal bars. The other girl user by the name of DreamCatcher laughed.
"Yeah, not going to happen. Your a valuable source of information and have valuable information for our pathetic enemy." She said in an annoying high pitched tone. I shivered. It sounded like finger nails creeping down a chalk board.
"Ever since we found your working for the enemy and that you have access to the most advanced machinery of the early twenty-first century, we came to offer you a deal." Said NightmareGamer. I glared at her.
"You give us the digitizer, and we will grant you freedom and information about your father." She said, a menacing smile growing on her face.
"I have no idea what you talking about. My father is dead. How would you even know about him?" I asked challengingly. The girl snickered.
"She thinks her Daddy's dead, guys! You'll be crushed to hear the truth." IBKittenGun laughed after she finished. The others, except NightmareGamer, laughed as well. Night leaned in so they were eye to eye.
"We are more than just some foolish game hackers Alex." I paled. How did she know my real name? "Do you accept or not?"
I kept my voice monotone and stared at them evenly. "I'm afraid I don't know what your talking about." I said.
The five stopped laughing and glared at me. "Your entering a dangerous game Alex- more than just your life is on the line." <The Game Hacker> said before disappearing. The others slowly followed, teleporting away one at a time until I was left alone.
